TEST DRIVE - Part 3
Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.
How this works:
☆ This is a test drive for
cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.
☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.
☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.
☆ This post will remain open until it begins to approach 5000 comments! Then a new test-drive post will be made.
☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.
☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.
YOUR OPTIONS:
☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!
☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.
☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.
☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.
You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

Azula | Avatar the Last Airbender | Blue Diamond
[Princess Azula of the Fire Nation was not having a great day. It was however better then most of the days she'd had in the last month wandering lost and insane in the forgetful valley. Starving, chased by beastst of all shapes and sizes and worst of all filthy. There were days when she caught sight of her reflection in a pool of water and hardly recognized herself.
Then came the hole. A perfectly princess shaped hole as if such a thing made sense. Submitting herself to the madness of such a thing she investigated the hole, crawling until she was falling and landing in a rather ungraceful heap in some kind of ruined temple.
Instantly survival instincts and paranoia took hold and she backed up against a wall scanning the room for threats. There were doors, and a massive gem in the center of the room but for the time being...no danger. Not yet anyway.]

The Beach
[So, this was her life now.
Standing on the warm sandy beach she felt the grains shift between her toes. She had cleaned herself up to some degree, but her long untamed hair and sunken features still made her look more like a feral beast, or at best an irritated peasant.
Her mind felt more clear now then it had in weeks, but it was still not as sharp as she needed. She could still hear the constant low murmuring of doubt and paranoia warning her of the threats the ocean hid from sight and how though the other gems from the temple seemed harmless she should not, could not let her guard down.
Indeed she didn't dare draw close to the ocean expecting either another vivid hullucination, or that the water itself might somehow spring to life and drag her under once more. Just the sound of the blueish green water lapping along the sand made her skin crawl.
But she was here now and she needed to overcome this. What good would she be in a fight if the sound of the ocean distracted her? How could she possibly live in this pathetic excuse for a village if she was intimdated by one of it's primary features?
And so she began her stances. A slow warm up to prepare for a work out routine she knew by heart. This cursed diamond in her belly may be cutting off her fire bending, but surely there was still some power she could find. Some ability it would reveal to her. All she had to do was focus. Return to who she was before her life came crashing down.
She had to be perfection.]

Two truths and a lie event
[So it was a game of lies the Gem wanted of her now? And her reward was a new ability? As much as Azula loathed interacting with strangers right now it was an opportunity too good to pass up. Hopefully she hadn't lost any of her talent for lying since everything fell apart. Now, who to use for this?]
You there! Come here and play this game with me.
Beach
However, the beast doesn't notice her. With a sigh, there's a rather distracting flash of golden light, and the creature shrinks into a tall man with wings. He groans, rubbing his temples.]
Right... got to remember the difference between scents...
[He's muttering to himself.]
no subject
Excuse you! Is that disgusting beast form of yours blind or are you simply as careless as a child?
[Shaking sand from her hair and glaring daggers at him.]
no subject
Oh, I beg pardon, ma'am... I really did not see you there. Telethia are blind.
...
I did... smell you, but I really didn't focus on your aura. So I am truly sorry.
no subject
Well you should be! Just because you look like a hideous beast doesn't give you the right to act like one!
no subject
no subject
You can start by explaining what kind of monster you are. That didn't look like the gem powers I've seen so far.
no subject
no subject
And your...gem...allows you to transform into that thing?
[ She can hardly imagine becoming something so unpleasant to look at.]
no subject
Yes, that is correct. It is a lot more pleasant than how I previously transformed, so I am fortunate that this is relatively painless.
[He looks a bit disgruntled at that but he shakes it off quickly.]
Two truths and a lie event
[ The look on the vampire's face as she turns to look this girl in the eye has a hint of annoyance. ]
Now then, give me you challenge.
no subject
By the age of fourteen I was already more powerful, more feared, and more accomplished then any adult in my nations army or government save for perhaps my own father.
With my army at my back, we overthrew the last hold out of rebellion in the North by infiltrating their palace and capturing a scared place of worship to them. The rebellion crumbled under a blood red moon that night.
[And for the last one she can't help but grit her teeth because she's not as good a liar as she used to be and it still makes her mad to bring up her mother]
My mother murdered my grandfather at the will of my father, was banished for it, and sought out a spirit that removed her face, gave her a new one and erased her memories out of "Love".
no subject
I'm not sure which of the first two sounds more unlikely.
Is the lie number two, by any chance?
no subject
Good guess. I was not actually present for that event which is why it was not a victory. Shortly after that I took control of the war and overthrew the largest hold out of rebels left in the world.
[She may just be trying to salvage some of her pride by explaining that. She's already internally screaming at herself for not even being able to trick someone for a game. What happened to the princess who could fool one of the most skilled lie detectors in the world?]
I suppose it's your turn.
no subject
I am a descendant of Vlad Tepes. [ This of course would be the lie. Remilia's told that lie often, though. ]
I am a vampire that's lived for over five hundred years, and will live for many more.
I can change my form into many shapes, including your own if I so desired.
no subject
[Studying her carefully trying to suss out the lie. Her people have stories of spirits like that, though she's never seen one take a form like this.]
Given the nature of this place, I will guess the first one is a lie...because even if it isn't that name means nothing to me so there's no point in bringing it up other then to confuse me.
no subject
Well, you're smarter than I thought. ...That was indeed a lie.
no subject
[She's already trying to suss out her new power. With a flick of her wrist fire crackles to her fingertips in a brilliant blue and her eyes light up]
Yes...FINALLY!
[Another wave and flames explode from both her hands roaring across the room and engulfing a few gems who squeal...and then blink confused as the fire does nothing to harm them. In fact some of them giggle like it's tickling them and someone remarks that their sinuses have cleared up.]
What is this?
[Glaring at the crystal heart now accusingly]
no subject
Watch it, you fool!
no subject
Warm...but not hot. Not burning.
[She tries harder making the flame larger, brighter her fingers thrust right through the middle of it but they don't burn and blacken. She is very clearly distraught about this.]
no subject
[ And with that tone of voice, it's clear the vampire isn't too thrilled with losing powers herself, though she's more angry than anything. ]
no subject
[She snuffs out the flame in her fist though she looks ready to slit throats at any moment]
Explain!
no subject
It's simple. Touch the large gem, and you'll be shown everything you need to know.
no subject
Hmpf. Absolute foolishness. Giving me fire that doesn't burn, what's even the point.
[Off to have a nice sulk about this turn of events.]
