September Event Planning - "Freaky Flyaway"
Hello, Gems! We've got one week until this month's event begins, and before it does, we've got some information on what you can expect from it.
Like the July event, this event will have two parts. Unlike the July event, this event isn't divided up by character skills. Instead, one part will be an Excursion with a mix of exploration and combat for everyone, while the other part is a more standard curse-style event in Waverly Bay, for anyone who's staying home for this one.
Because of the nature of this event, we're going to spoil the premise so you can decide how you want it to affect your character beforehand. It's...a bodyswap event! The Gems of Waverley Bay will have their default forms swapped around, and will have to put up with being in an unfamiliar body long enough to deal with the source of the problem. If that's not enough to worry about, Tiger's Eye needs help tracking down the monster responsible - and fast.
Characters can "opt out" of the bodyswap effect by being in their rooms or not in Waverley Bay during the incident that sets the event off.
There will be an IC incentive for characters who have swapped bodies with one another to interact, but it is not necessary to do so.
For those who want a bit of randomness in this event, or who want to swap but don't have someone in mind to swap with, we're holding a bodyswap lottery! Simply post any characters you'd like to enter in the lottery thread below, at any time between now and the 20th. On the 20th, we'll roll the list, and pairs will be posted in the OOC post for the event start.
Got any questions? Ask 'em in the questions thread below! The rest of the comment space is open for y'all to plan swaps with each other.

Sept 20th: A post from Tiger's Eye will go up that sets off the bodyswap effect and opens Tiger up for questioning/briefing. At the same time, an OOC post with full details on both sides of the event will be posted. In the setting, this post will take place on the morning of the 21st.
Sept 21st-24th, Waverley Bay side: The bodyswap effect will linger. But it's not all waiting around for the week to be over - some monstrous hangabouts are just aggravating the problem. Will fusion help with this...?
Sept 21st-24th, Excursion side: Characters interested in (and able to) help Tiger will pursue a monster to a new location. For reasons of OOC convenience, characters will split up into three groups to search the location; there's no difference in "mechanics" between the three, just in content that will be revealed when the event goes up. For now, just know that there will be groups, and things will go most smoothly for mods and players if characters get in a group and stay there. Bodyswapped characters can go on the excursion! Just...try not to trip. In the setting, the events of the excursion will all take place on the 21st.
Sept 25th: An ending will be posted, based on the results of the excursion. The bodyswap effect will begin to wear off naturally for those who haven't yet resolved it, but it may linger for individual characters at player discretion.
There will be an IC incentive for characters who have swapped bodies with one another to interact, but it is not necessary to do so.

QUESTIONS?
BODYSWAP LOTTERY

An obvious example being Rise here, who is back to being a teenager by shapeshift but her default form is technically still the little girl form she arrived in...

So would the Reira default she's stuck with also be purple?

No, the default forms being swapped are identical to what they were on their original...person. This event functions pretty much like your standard bodyswap curse-style event, except with gems and therefore powers being kept.

Powers are untouched, gem type is untouched, gems don't receive the powers of the person they're bodyswapped with. If you have powers that deal heavily with the physical form, like shapeshifting-related powers, it's up to the player how you want to play that out.

If bodyswapping changes how a character feels in that regard - for example, if a human bodyswaps with, idk, Napstablook, and they think "oh hey this body is incorporeal, ghosts don't have to eat, I won't have to eat" - then they can definitely play that happening.
But the origin of the form (and the player of the character it originates from) doesn't dictate how the character who receives the form is affected by it (or how the player chooses to play it out). Each player goes "okay my character now looks like THIS" and decides how their character responds to that.

Like, for example, you have person A, B, and C. Person A ends up with C's body, Person C ends up with B's body, and Person B ends up with A's body.
Or do you prefer people stick to Person A -> B and Person B -> A for swapping bodies?
