SO. It's Revise again, with my third thematically birdy character in a row coming into this fine game.

CERTAIN MUNS (you know who you are) convinced me to read Homestuck, and somehow of all the many characters I've entertained playing throughout it, Davesprite came out on top. He's a timeline alternate of Dave Strider who lived for four months in a doomed timeline where two of the four protagonists died and his game guide (known as a "sprite") was Tier 2 prototyped with the remains of his brother's creepy-ass puppet and just laughed maniacally at everything all the time. While going back in time to make sure the other two players didn't get killed again and that alpha timeline Dave didn't make that same sprite mistake, this Dave Tier 2 prototyped himself with alpha Dave's Tier 1 sprite, Crowsprite, making himself Davesprite and also making him bright orange and feathery and ghosty-looking. Basically he's an orange floofy bird Dave with a long snaky tail, and personality-wise he's sort of "a depressed bird version of Dave", to use HS's wording. Basically lots of self-hate and existential crises to be had here because of people continually reminding him he's not the "real Dave", not being the alpha timeline version anymore, and the question of what use a game construct is outside the game he came from. Not helping will be the fact that his first power is watermarks, a relatively useless and comical sprite power which he'll eventually be able to use to essentially send holographic messages of himself to people.

OH ALSO his gem is Black Star Sapphire on his stomach, so that'll be an easy differentiation for people who might confuse him for weirdly-regenerated actual Dave.

Homestuck being Homestuck, if you'd rather not interact with him or you just want to opt-out of his typing quirk if it comes up, I have a comment-screened post where you can inform me of that.

Okay, so given recent events, Ichigo may very well assume that this is, in fact, 'their Dave', pulling a Steven and coming back different! Even though you'd think his gem would be a given here, well... she's not in a good place emotionally right now. Especially after a certain chat with Jane has left her feeling rather frustrated with Dave.

So, is it okay to throw her at Davesprite, or would you rather avoid her introduction to him involving a lot of misplaced righteous fury? Because I'm totally cool with her not meeting him until somebody else has a chance to warn her or whatever.

ACTUALLY, Davesprite has a bandaged wound where his gem is going to be, so immediately after his arrival (what will be the first prompt on his intro), his gem will be covered. So yeah, feel free to confuse him for alpha Dave - I was going to suggest it, actually, for shenanigans.

He's visibly badly injured (bleeding yellow from that wound, wing ripped off and full of blood bad), though, if that'll put Ichigo off bopping him a new one any.

It might, but that probably won't put her off from yelling. And if he's visibly injured, she'll likely want to drag him towards the first healer they can find.

Ahaha yeah, he's going to be refusing up and down the fucking temple. He'll let her bandage the wing and replace the ones on his stomach at best, but he won't let anyone outright heal him because of the circumstances of the injuries.

I mean his reason for being cagey about it is pretty fucking legit given. Uh.

You know how Dave's brother is dead?

Want to take a wild guess who was fighting alongside him at the time and now has self-hate/idolisation compounded survivor's guilt?

All these Striders have issues out the wazoo, man...

On the flip side, Ichi does also have very strong views about helping people break out of abusive mindsets, so I can also see her encouraging Davesprite's journey of self-discovery and pushing him to see himself as more than just a 'bargain bin bird Dave'. And giving Dave-Dave heck if she catches him picking on Davesprite. And just generally being annoying helpful. Likely at the top of her lungs.

Yeah Davesprite pretty much got issues bingo; he's got all of Dave's issues plus a ton of extra ones about his own existence, since the only reason he's not dead already is that he turned himself into a sprite, everyone is all too happy to remind him at the drop of a hat that he's not the "real" Dave, that survivor's guilt thing, etc. He's a lot readier to admit that sort of thing than alpha Dave is, as well.

Good luck with that Ichigo, he is pretty committed to the idea of himself as a janky bargain bin Dave. Hell, when he's 16 he outright says it, and says that nobody really deserves to have his friendship or love inflicted on them because of it.

Davesprite is probably going to make a furry joke about her on sight, because he is a fine and tasteful young man of high-class humour.
