TEST DRIVE - Part 3

Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.

Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

How this works:

☆ This is a test drive for cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.

☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.

☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.

☆ This post will remain open until it begins to approach 5000 comments! Then a new test-drive post will be made.

☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.

☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.


YOUR OPTIONS:

☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!

☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.

☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.

☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.

You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.

[Peridot looks around in a daze. Just what happened and where was she? Well, there was a hole, then... she was here? This doesn't make any sense. This wasn't that place. Neither was that hole... But, looking around, she doesn't see those Crystal Gems around. She gets up cautiously, takes a few steps, pauses... then tries running away with a cackle, only to crash into you.]

[There is a small green humanoid gem approaching you. She points a demanding finger at you.]

You there! You are to say what the lie is!

[...Yep. That's it. That's all she said.]

[ WHAM! In her panic she collides with something fleshy, purple and familiar.

In fact the position she finds herself in is strikingly deja vu. ]

Uh...Peridot?

[Um. Um....]

I didn't know you would be here.

[Note that she hasn't gotten off of Amethyst yet.]

Uh...yup...I've been here for like three months...

[Well she's not telling her to get off either. It's really just kind of confusing]

Did you just get here?

[Peridot looks around, still not getting off Amethyst.]

Where are we? This isn't your temple place, and it's not that barn...

[This is quickly becoming a game of gay chicken and Amethyst is too chill to stop it.]

This is the temple err...in a place called Waverly Bay.

It's like our temple except bigger, weirder and lots more gems live here.

[When will this madness stop? ...Probably when Amethyst wants to move again. Peridot seems too distracted with everything else.]

Other gems? How many other gems? ...Are the other Crystal Clods here?

[ Her face falls when Peridot brings them up and she looks away pouting]

Just me, Rose and Jasper. Garnet and Pearl aren't here anymore.

[Just stomp right on that conversational landmine Peri]

[Stomp? She's going to parade into it and she won't even know.

Huh. Jasper's here? She'll have to erm... "catch up" sometime. Not that it requires immediate action. It can be done later.]

Oh, so your Rose is here? What about the hybrid? They could be great replacements for the fusion and Pearl.

...Is it your face? Pretty sure it's your face.

[Aaaaand the jerkassery goes straight over her head.]

...Well, technically, you're correct. The face is part of the body, and the real me is this gem.

[Peridot points to the gem on her forehead.]

Now what power do I get?

[It's not even fun if she doesn't get offended.]

If you want a power out of it, you've gotta do it right.

All gems have various densities, yes. Mine is 3.34.

I thought I did it right. You had to pick out the lie.

You have to present a lie first, in the form of statements about yourself. Two true statements and one lie.

[He'll stick around to hear them, only because he has the feeling they'll be laughably horrible.]

[So that's the way it's supposed to be?]

...Okay, Cinnabar freak thing, I'll play your lie game.

[Peridot clears her throat and offers a very arrogant smile.]

I'm a Peridot. I'm a master technician and certified Kindergardener, and I'm bigger than this temple.

[...WOW! Kassan, do you have future vision?]

[He's gonna need it to see when this green thing's going to stop being a dumb.]

See, now you're not even trying. It shouldn't be that easy, even if I do want to call the second one a lie just to see your reaction.

But that one isn't the lie. Why would you choose it?

[Peridot's having a little trouble wrapping her head around this.]

Just choose the lie so I can get my power!

[ There she was, minding her own business when suddenly she gets hit by something small and green. At least it wasn't Koishi. Again.

But still! That collision almost knocked the five foot nothing vampire off her feet! ]

Watch where you're going, you imbecile!

[Peridot gets her bearings again and scowls.]

You're the one who was in my way! You should have moved, not me!

[ The vampire-turned-bloodstone gem stands to her full height... which isn't exactly an impressive height despite her being fully gown, and scowls back. As a gem related to quartz, she probably should be eight feet tall at the least, but she isn't. ]

I am nobility! I go where I please!

[It's then that Peridot notices the gem. And it's another Quartz. She still eases off a little due to the gem type, though.]

You're just another defective. So since we're here, what in the stars is this place?

[ Does she want a spear to the face? Because that's how she'll get a spear to the face. ]

And you're a little pest. Go touch that big gem, I'll wait.

[ Well, it's not everyday that one would meet a woman who has bat wings, pale skin, red eyes and fangs. ]

For your information, I'm a Peridot. And definitely not a part of the Crystal Clods. So it really would be helpful if you tell me everything you know.

[Because, uh... Peridot's not going to say that she can't reach.]

[ Well, she looks at the Heart Gem, the back at Peridot. ...And starts sniggering. ]

[ Hey, if she were nicer, Remilia would be more inclined to tell her. Well, she'll probably fill in the gaps. ]

I'll say this, though... You won't have any powers you had before arriving here.

[And now Peridot is embarrassed and pouts. Ugh... Always getting bossed around by Quartz Gems. First Jasper, now this one...]

...Doesn't matter. I'll get then back easy enough... And Ill have more power than you.
