TEST DRIVE - Part 3
Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.
How this works:
☆ This is a test drive for
cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.
☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.
☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.
☆ This post will remain open until it begins to approach 5000 comments! Then a new test-drive post will be made.
☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.
☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.
YOUR OPTIONS:
☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!
☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.
☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.
☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.
You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

Mami Tomoe | Puella Magi Madoka Magica | Scheelite
[Did someone order cheese curls? Well...that's not quite what's here. There's a young girl in a school uniform, her face grim at first. It's almost as if she expected to walk into a strange, otherworldly situation. She looks to her hand, and...
Then the mask cracks. Something's missing. Her hands wildly search until they find the yellow flower-shaped stone embedded in her temple. She doesn't seem all that surprised to find it, but...she is very surprised to find that it does nothing that she expects it to.
There's a faint tremor in her hands as she lowers them. No one's coming to help, they can't. What's she to do? Try to escape the barrier...so she's making an attempt to leave, her steps quick, quiet, and anxious.]
[B. Two Truths and a Lie]
[Mami's finally managed to calm herself a little. She still doesn't like this whole gem situation, and she really doesn't like that she's lost the strength to protect everyone, but it's her job to get it back. So she approaches her new ally with a polite smile, hands folded in front of her.]
Good afternoon! Could I bother you to play a short game with me? I'll help you out too!
no subject
And she'd seen Mami before, too. But the last time they'd met...
It had been heartbreaking to say the least.
And she doesn't know if Mami remembers that. So she stands awkwardly where Mami can't see her for several seconds, before suddenly calling out. ]
H-hey. [ Her voice cracks a bit, and she forces a smile. ]
no subject
They're not the same anymore. They can't be allies. But could she ever hurt her...? The answer's still no. Not without knowing what's going on in this place, at the very least.]
Sakura-san.
[Mami slowly turns on her heel, her whole posture seized with tension.]
Has this labyrinth taken your magic too?
[That's still the first priority. Figure out this anomaly and prevent casualties.]
no subject
It did fer a while. Some'f it's back, but not most. An' I got diff'rnt magic, too.
[ She's babbling. She has questions. ]
Look... there's a lot ya need ta know, an' th'easiest way ta find out isn' me tellin' ya. But I need ya ta trust me an' let me show ya somethin'.
no subject
All right. I'll listen.
no subject
[ She walks through the temple halls, leading Mami to the heart gem. She doesn't say anything all the way there. Except, when they arrive: ]
This en't a labyrinth. [ She gestures towards the gem. ] Touch it. Won' hurt.
no subject
All right.
[She touches it. She's silent for a while as the information floods in. She instinctively touches her reformed gem, frowning now.]
We're not human?
[She hadn't been for a long time, but. Not that she knew that.]
no subject
[ She decides not to show Mami her true, furrier form. Not yet. But she'll need to know eventually. ]
But th'rat's not here. Far as I know.
[ So there was that. ]
no subject
[This...isn't going too well.]
And what rat would that be? Surely not Kyubey?
no subject
[ She takes her Pocky box out of her pocket and sticks a piece in her mouth, rolling it between her teeth. ]
Don' worry. [ Her voice softens; there's a sadness to it. ] S'not permanent.

He's not seen her around before, so he calls out after her, walking in the same direction.]
Hey! Are you new here?
no subject
I am. It's not a bad place when you get used to it, huh?
no subject
[He offers a massive hand out to her for a handshake.]
I'm Ralph, what's yer name?
no subject
[She bows, then reciprocates.]
Are you on the police force?
no subject
It's nice to meet ya, Mami!
[He thinks for a moment before responding, that wasn't something he was sure about.]
Uh, not officially, but I do what I can to help out.
no subject
I want to help too, but I don't think I'm really strong enough yet. Is there anything else we do to help each other around town? Cleanup? Studying?
no subject
Cleanup's probably a good one, sometimes the monsters cause a mess. I dunno 'bout studyin', it can't hurt, 'specially if you can dig up somethin' 'bout how to get back home or how to stop the monster attacks.

B
The teen just shrugs, nodding.]
Sure. Hit me with what ya got.

[She winks]
I live alone, I'm the class president, and I've built rifles in my spare time.
no subject
That you're the class president is a lie.
no subject
...how do you know that?
no subject
Just kind of guessed and went with the class president one.

Then again, meh. Dunno if there's really such a thing as normal people.
