November Event Summary, Feedback, and the December Event!
First of all, excellent job, Gems! This was a slightly different event structure than usual and you all did an excellent job with it! IC Wrapup will be taking place on the event post but for those of you who want a bit more meat, the OOC Wrapup post is here to provide you with all the info you need!
Character Rewards
As well as the usual tokens towards power regains, the Gems of Waverly Bay earned a number of IC rewards too!
Character Rewards
As well as the usual tokens towards power regains, the Gems of Waverly Bay earned a number of IC rewards too!
- - Bricktown has been permanently added to the Warp Locations page!
- A free gift card for the Fishergate Mall. Abigail was so impressed by how well the Gems of Waverly Bay took to solving the slug problem that she put in a good word for you all. After doing a little wheedling, Abigail has managed to score $30 gift cards for all Gems who took part in the Fishergate Shopping Mall mission. Spend wisely!
- Free use of Violet's boat for all Gems in Waverly Bay. After all, it's not every day you get to see a giant gem lady wrassle with a sea monster. All you have to do is let Violet know in advance and the Gems of Waverly Bay can use her boat for whatever they please! Just don't crash it.
- A reputation bonus. The Gems performed so well that they've earned themselves a positive reputation in Bricktown. This will have a number of positive effects the next time Gems have a mission there!
- The Angler Whale left behind an artifact once it was poofed. With this artifact collected, the Gems of Waverly Bay have unlocked the 4th Wall Event!
What Now?
With a handful of events in this structure under our belt, we've decided to completely rehaul our planned Excursion structure. While this unfortunately means that their full unveiling will be pushed back it also means that when Excursions roll out they will maximize player autonomy and encourage exploration in a way that was someone restricted by our previous structure. The holidays are a crazy time but we'll be working on them this month as much as our time allows. Please let us know in the feedback header what sort of Excursions and locations you'd like to see when they go live!
Also in the works is an NPC and Reputation Tracking Page. This will be a place listing all the NPCs of Cosmographia so far as well as keeping track of the IC reputation of Waverly Bay's Gems. You'll also be able to use it as a contact page for the NPCs listed!
Your Feedback
As usual, we want it! Let us know how this event ran for you. Anything you want to see more of? Less of? Do you think your mods are just totally dreamy? Let us know below!

It might be nice to get a headsup in the OOC that something is happening, so it'll attract players to go and throw their character in, or even link to the event post itself so we can finish the wrap up.
I can't say I'm super happy with how that was handled.

I mean, obviously that's not something we have to use, but... maybe when an event happens, the announcement could include a reminder about that feature? That could make it easier for those of us who can't constantly keep checking a post to see when anything major happens to avoid missing anything important.

I'll admit that I SHOULD theoretically watch PLURK more, but I've been a bit more tired lately since working night shift, and when there was no notification that an event was still happening I was left in the dark. I figured when that DID happen, we'd be at least notified in OOC.

And, like... I don't have a PLURK at all, so I pretty much have to rely on checking the posts a lot, or tracking them.

I may have to start doing that now.

While events such as the Mask Island exploration usually have a place on the journals where we aggregate toplevels and other important information but with how small the area of this event was, we didn't think it was necessary this time around. We'll make sure to have them up for future events!

Thank you for addressing my concerns! Likewise, I'll be sure to track top level posts from now on. I'm still very much invested in the game and want to play at my best.

So far as excursions go, we've had some investigation and retrieval style ones and of course, the monster fighting style excursions, but I'd love to see a rescue mission or even a "defend the town/important landmark" kind of excursion. Rescue missions could work kind of like investigations and retrievals where you're given a location that somebody's gone missing or run into some trouble in and it's the excursion party's job to track them down and rescue them from whatever peril they've found themselves in. And maybe Defend the town/landmark missions could work kinda like how certain missions in video games do where you have to fight off several waves of monsters in escalating levels of difficulty while also protecting a place or item (or person, I guess) from being harmed or stolen.
I think both of those would build on the kinds of event missions we've seen so far while also being something a little different. They could even be set in locations we've already opened instead of necessitating creation of new places.
Anyway though, thanks again for an awesome event and I can't wait for 4th Wall! :D
