The really interesting thing about this is right before I saw you were in the game, my best friend and I had a long discussion of why the King of All Cosmos should not be a Crystal Gem.

Then I saw you and I felt validated.

Yeah, the King becoming a Crystal Gem would likely be disastrous. He wouldn't deal well with the de-powering aspect at all, or the prospect of teamwork that didn't entail sitting out while others handled the bulk of the work.

Ideally, he'd be able to go through some positive character development, such as figuring out how damaging his parenting methods are, but it's hard to say whether or not that would really take.

...If you wanted to play one of the 'adult' figures, the RoboKing might actually be a better bet. While he only featured in Katamari Forever and an arc in the webcomic, he had a really clear-cut character arc, and might be more open to developing an identity beyond trying to match (or surpass) the King of All Cosmos. Not to mention he got a seriously raw deal...

Of course, he'd probably be sulky and depressed about the de-powering/shrinking at first, but without the King around to constantly compare himself to (or to complain and mistreat him for being an 'inferior copy'), perhaps there'd be a chance for him to find his footing and some measure of peace. Especially if he was able to make friends who supported him.
