Gems: The Musical!!!

Hi, everybody!

So, thanks to a lovely first conversation between Pinkie and Subaru, we're entertaining the idea of putting on a play!

Now, here are two questions we should probably answer before moving forward:

1. What musicals would you/your character(s) love to see put on? Keep in mind we'll be having young children and horses participating. XD

2. What roles would your character like during all this? (Main character, background character/chorus member, techie, audience, off doing something else because boo musical theater?)

I have no idea if he'd even begin to volunteer for this without enough people pushing, but Gongenzaka will flat out refuse to play anything villainous if he was stuck on stage.

That said, he'll absolutely be fine for lifting and construction for props, etc.

1. I'm very sorry, but Greg's probably going to suggest The Starlight Express because who wouldn't want to dress up in cool outer space-like costumes, strap on some roller skates, and pretend to be trains?

2. Main character, chorus, techie... he's good for any of that stuff.

oh man there are so many things for him to do here. It totally depends on what the play is but Gaston could go so many different ways with this. He's obviously gonna be going for a lead role, but how he reacts to it totally depends on the play. Obviously, as was mentioned, if he gets something like the Dentist in Little Shop - he's just gonna end up punching the plat when he's supposed to die.

ALSO TOO MANY GOOD PLAY CHOICES. Seussical, Grease, Wizard of Oz or Rock of Ages are my favorite choices outside the previously-mentioned Little Shop. Especially pushing Seussical just because it's kid-friendly + the cast is HUUUUUGEEEEE.

I'm unfamiliar with Seussical, but looking at the cast list I'd kind of want to Greg to play Horton.

1. if someone suggests snow white and then is like "ask weiss to play snow white" I would laugh so hard. personally, weiss is more of a concert singer so she's not particularly into musicals.

2. weiss probably wouldn't volunteer herself, but there is a 100% chance a team rwby would volunteer her since they probably all know she sings and she sings well (also she can dance, when ruby isn't MESSING UP HER GROOVE). she could probably be goaded into giving singing training too, if someone asked.

Honestly, I think we probably could pull off Beauty and the Beast. I mean, it's not like Gaston's a big reader, and I don't think he'd come away with any huge epiphany from it. More like "Wait, there's a GASTON in this?! And he sounds like my kinda man!" Sure, he'd think the ending's all wrong, but...

...Tell him 'Art is Tragedy' and he just might swallow it.

I don't have a musical suggestion (me and my uncultured butt) but Sunset's good for choreography. She sings well enough to act---and she can do quite a good villain-voice, but it would scare her to do it.

Doc's probably just a set and props guy, though if you're short on old men he's more willing to play along than some of the others.

PINNOCHIO.

Actually did headcanon that Ultron, along with liking Disney/animation in general, also has an interest in musicals.

Besides Pinnochio, Ultron would like the other Disney musicals.

Non-Disney musicals (and leaving out the ones he'd like but would be too adult-themed): Wicked (others have mentioned Into the Woods), Matilda, All Shook Up, Starship. But he actually would be up for anything.

Ultron likes working with machinery in general (daddy's son), and with this, he'd be willing to be a background tech. (And may try to go overboard: fog machines! crazy audio effects! insane lighting effects! he can totally make a mechanical Maleficient dragon for the very end with real fire effects!)

Ruby can do props or something backstage! Especially if Weiss is involved in the show

I highly doubt that Donnie will want to be in a musical, but he'd likely be more than happy to volunteer as a techie since that's kind of this thing. As for suggestions... he'll leave that up to people more familiar with musicals than him.

Ichigo'd LOVE to be part of this! She won't demand a major role or anything, but she'd like to have some part on the stage~

As mentioned in their thread, Subaru would very much like to stick to being a techie.

Berry, of course, has an insurmountable obstacle in the way of her acting career. When the loudest you can possibly be is 'Fluttershy's normal speaking voice' and even that causes you to spit blood...yeah.

She'll stick to making costumes, now that she has a reliable source of Sunny Cotton!

Also, in a strange twist of fate, Connie SO wants to be a villian!

As for what she'd be doing, she can play a mean piano or would totally jump all over the chance to portray a detective on stage. :B

So this made think about City of Angels - kind of amazed I didn't think about it before since it was my first lead role ever. Kind of more adult-oriented but it's really film-noiry with this sweet jazz soundtrack and it's so good.

I have no suggestions for plays (I have many suggestions for plays but Fuu would not share them) but Fuu plays piano if any help is needed there.

(She also has a very nice singing voice canonly but she wouldn't want to get on stage.)

Ralph'd probably best suited for behind-the-scenes and preparation things, mostly in the moving and hauling of stuff. He could maybe move props and sets around between acts, if that's needed.

Bill was BORN to be on stage so no matter what play is chosen he's going to audition and give it 618%! He'd love a lead part, but I think as long as he gets to perform he'll be satisfied!
