Okay Dragon Age knowledge time...

Those who dream end up seeing the afterlife (we think it's the afterlife anyhow). Seen here. Along with dead things, both spirits and demons. Sometimes, people also go there when they're awake using magic rock-things. Hawke did that. So her dreamscape is there. Mixed with her trauma. Of everybody dying. And lots of glitches. And non-glitch trauma. Gonna need to do some content warning for that stuff, haha.
