HEY GUYS, it's Gena! So some of you might have heard about this already on plurk, but I figured it would be good to throw a post up here for those who haven't. Gato (our resident Pearl player!) is going to be on a hiatus later this month, from June 13th to the 26th! And during that time, she asked if I wanted to kinda-sorta take over for Pearl. I say kinda-sorta because it's not gonna be Pearl exactly, her gem is going to be cracked! Meaning...





GIANT MONSTER BIRD AHHH (Gato also made these awesome drawings!)

I don't have a ton of things planned in particular for this, Pearl will probably just fly around the town and stir up terror. But she's actually gonna be pretty panicky and nonviolent herself! Gato has also requested that we don't KILL Pearl, aka send her back into her gem the way they usually do with monster gems. Since Pearl is gonna be the first player-made monster, it'd probably make sense for some of the characters to opt for capture instead. And that's bound to cause ensuing drama for characters who want to hunt her down, I'm sure.

Anyway, it's still not gonna happen for a week or so, I just figured it'd be good to let everybody know what's going on in advance. If you have any ideas for things to happen during this, let me know!

in case it wasn't immediately obvious, Peridot will be a super down with murdering this giant sinister bird monster that totally isn't someone who knows she's here already. I mean she won't succeed, obvs, but man is she ever going to try

Fluttershy is totally all for not-killing Pearl-monster. Maybe she can be someone who can try and help console said monster?

Pokey is all up for not killing the monster. Unlike most of the others here, this will be because Pokey's coward at heart will activate and he will proceed to jump into the nearest dumpster or hiding spot upon seeing said monster, and probably knock his dumb ass out in the process.

I'm kind of thinking this might trigger the first use of his power, astral projection, which he'll be stuck in for a couple days, since he won't understand what's actually happening to him for a bit. He won't be taking absolute advantage of his powers yet, but considering he'll be in an astral form and able to move around, maybe he could help find out where bird-Pearl is and end up telling the others when he gets back to his body?

THAT'S PERFECT, that's an excellent way to work in his power :D maybe Pearl will knock over whatever dumpster Pokey hides in, that could be what knocks him out!

Subaru totally isn't up for killing the monster if they really don't want to, but he's willing to lend a hand in tracking means! Heck, this would be a good way for him to learn the difference between a corrupted gem's signal and a regular gem's, since he hasn't fought any monsters or anything yet and he's still learning to memorize signals to actually work with this tracking ability he's got going on.

That's a great idea! Her signal will probably be jittery and uneven thanks to her gem being broken.

Yuuya is not going after the birb because he is going to be sleeping through the entire thing, pretty much. Giant Pearly-bird would really freak him out, and I'll be pretty busy myself this month.

Feel free to tell him spooky stories about getting almost carried off by a giant bird, though.

Yang's first instinct when it comes to giant monsters flying around a town and terrorizing citizens basically boils down to "SHOOT IT". It doesn't help that Pearl!Monster kinda looks like a Giant Nevermore, sorry Birb Mom.

HOWEVER. If somebody explains the situation or simply tells her that's Pearl/Steven's Bird Mom and that they can catch her/change her back, she will gladly help Team Capture be it with the actual capture or maybe throwing a wrench in Team Kill's works idk, Yang's flexible. XD
