TEST DRIVE - Part 2

Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.

Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

How this works:

☆ This is a test drive for cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.

☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.

☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.

☆ This post will remain open until it begins to approach 5000 comments! Then a new test-drive post will be made.

☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.

☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.


YOUR OPTIONS:

☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!

☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.

☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.

☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.

You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.

It's not medicine, it's beer. But it's the best drink after getting, well, shocked basically. Believe me, a shock to your system is best dealt with, with a good stiff drink.

Just don't give any to kids and we'll be square.

I'm sorry about all of that. I'm still not used to my gem powers. Are you hurt?

Only my pride. I've taken blows much worse than that before.

[Like the beating he took from Jack and Carly one time in that Shadow Duel he didn't remember.]

That's good. Asara Telethia are very strong, and usually the instinct of a Telethia is to kill someone. I would have hated to have accidentally done that, or worse. My shapeshifting is... still amateurish.

[persuitchaser]

Sounds Indian to me, but I'm not good up with my other languages. But I'll take your word for it.

[He nodded, folding his arms.] Work on that. Preferably outdoors too, so you won't get stuck in there.

Finish your beer, and get some air. Walk it off, you'll be fine. And don't worry, the Heart won't hurtcha I don't think.

I was supposed to just turn into a Arel Telethia, which is barely taller than me. It went... as you saw.

[A sigh.]

Thank you, sir... I don't believe we've met before.

[persuitchaser]

[He raised a eyebrow but smiled a little. Of course he wouldn't know, he didn't even look like he was from Earth.] Don't worry about it, but yeah I get you.

[Ushio nodded.]

We haven't. Ushio Tetsu, I'm new here too by about a week or so. [And he held out a hand to get up and to shake.]

Kallian Antiqua, regent of the High Entia, and been here for about the same period. Pleased to meet you.

[He gets up too and shakes hands with Ushio, thankfully familiar with the 'Homs' custom.]

[persuitchaser]

[Good grip. Ushio could tell a lot about someone by their handshake and his was firm.]

So, Kallian, was it? You ever punch a monster into a gem once? Those weaker ones came up the road a few hours ago, and I was the only one around to tackle it.

[Really stupid, but the other weak gem monsters fled when Ushio had used his raw strength to mash a monster to, well, gem form.]

[pikana]

[That... certainly was an unusual question. The man shook his head,]

I don't believe I had the chance to. I've been using other means of defending myself so far.

[Mostly ether magic, but occasionally turning into terrifying Telethia and getting stuck for a day]

That seems like impressive strength though.

[persuitchaser]

Ah. I didn't think it would work, and I don't exactly have a weapon.

At the same time, someone let them get too close to town, so I warded them off. I'm basically one of the heads of the police back home, so I couldn't ignore that.

[Boasting? A little. But Ushio was wondering where Link had been. He was usually on top of this.]

[pikana]

[Probably either really depressed over recent deaths of friends, or trying to fight something twice as big, or both. That kid needed some sleep one of these days, and not on the temple floor]

Maybe your first power is super strength. Or you were lucky they were easily defeated. It was good of you to intervene though

Oh? I hadn't thought of that. You may be right. Things have been easier to open up lately.

[He honestly didn't give all this power thing a serious thought. After all, he was more or less simply content to let things happen for the most part.]

. . . How do you not notice that you're considerably stronger than before? I noticed almost immediately.

[You spent three days outside as a Telethia, Kallian. Blame Harley, but still.]

[persuitchaser]

Honestly? I've always been strong as a bear. I was big for my age, and thought I'm not proud of it, I was a bully back in the day. So I spent my time fighting. Controlling my strength was a normal thing to do on a daily basis even when I stopped hounding people for money.

[pikana]

[He's not going to ask what a bear is, but he assumes it is a strong creature from the context]

Then maybe you should try going all out on a boulder by the cliffside

[persuitchaser]

Maybe yeah, that's probably a good idea actually. Maybe I'll actually be able to shatter a boulder once in my life.

[He immediately thought of "Redfielding" the boulder and snickered. What a dated statement.]

[pikana]

And if not... well, you're free to have a shot at me for accidentally making you punch a boulder.

[Cause that will probably hurt.]

[persuitchaser]

[Ushio blinked before laughing.] Man, I have been hurt worse before. Don't worry about it.

[pikana]

Alright. If you insist. But I'm watching, whenever you decide to try it.

[persuitchaser]

If you must. I ain't gonna call on the request unless it's a even fight.

[pikana]

Right. That is only fair. I suppose that means I will not use my powers, right?

[Kallian please]

[persuitchaser]

Naw, I'd rather keep this a fair fight. Anything goes. [Ushio thudded his chest confidently.] I doubt it'd be bad if you roughed me up a bit.

[pikana]

[He had really been joking. Kallian is not interested in fighting at all, but he gives a smirk]

I see... But if we did fight in the future, for my sake more than yours, I'd rather not be a Telethia.

[Because... he really doesn't want to be reliant on those monsters]
