not gonna lie: the terrifying fandom basically straight-up ruined ranma 1/2 for me

also ruined fandom for me in general, too

but here's the thing: your akane is amazing and i have started considering just...reading the manga?? maybe actually finish it??

man, the terrifying fandom halfway ruined it for ME and i never actually participated in it, just read fanfic and the manga and occasionally watched the anime when i could

like, i'm serious, the goddamn fandom almost ruined ukyo for me by turning her into a saint to akane's shrew, i'm so mad about that, and don't even get me started on the people who woobify nabiki, i'll be here all night

and i just care so much about my angry tomboy child, she got such a bad rap in the fandom and yeah, okay, she's hella flawed, but SO IS EVERYONE ELSE IN THE CAST, and when you actually think about the implications of what kuno did to her prior to the start of the series, that's fucking sexual harassment, yo, he got a huge chunk of the male student body to sexually harass her on a daily basis, didn't get punished for it by the school (probably cause his dad was principal), and it went on for weeks and it only stopped because of ranma having a greater claim to her, not because of anything she was able to do

that's fucking awful when you think about it

no wonder she hates and distrusts boys

no wonder she has so many sexual hang-ups and fears of 'perversion'

ranma 1/2 is a silly action comedy and i'm the last person to say it should be taken super-seriously (that way lies most of the fandom's mistakes) but man, akane's life was shit

Yeah, Ranma 1/2 was one of those series where the more you think about what their situations actually ARE, the harder it gets to enjoy... or maybe that's just me?

But yes, fandoms can be terrifying.
