TEST DRIVE
Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.
How this works:
☆ This is a test drive for
cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.
☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.
☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.
☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.
☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.
YOUR OPTIONS:
☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!
☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.
☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.
☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.
You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

[After all they've gotten shocked before, it's not like they'll die if they do it in this "dream world".]
no subject
[As he's imagining ways to create a shock, he suddenly yelps. There sure was shock jumping between his hands, slightly singing then.]
no subject
How the hell did you do that?!
no subject
[He intentionally tries this time, concentrating his mental energy up there and picturing it jumping out...and it takes an embarrassingly long time, but another bolt dances between his hands.]
Great Scott. I'm a generator.
no subject
So these rocks give us powers then?
[He might have already forgotten that they technically are the rocks now. It just sounds really weird that way, okay?]
no subject
[He sighs, rubs his fingertips, then starts rummaging in his pockets for something]
Then I'm convinced this is reality. But I'm definitely not going out with a target on my head.
[Is it normal for this world? He doesn't know. But his reflection still weirds him out, so he is tying a bandana around his forehead to hide that thing.]
no subject
[Marty soon starts to see if any sparks shoot out of his gemstone. It goes about as well as you'd expect.]
So how do you know that going out with that gem is a target, anyway?
no subject
[He sighs.]
Perhaps everyone out there has an easily visible gem, but...I look quite alien. And that's not likely to be a good thing when establishing contact.]
no subject
Well he didn't die or anything at least.]
Right. There has to be other people though, right? Why would this.. gem [Gestures towards the floating gem.] want just us?
no subject
no subject
[That would just be boring, honestly.]
no subject
[Oh look! There's a door. He touches it, peeking out into...the hall of what appears to be an ancient temple. The halls are sparsely populated this time of day, but there are people---and other creatures. Most of them seem to have a gem protruding from their skin somewhere.]
...was that a horse?
no subject
[That pony is still weird though. Ponies should not come in that color.]
no subject
[It's...well, it's unusual. Gems glitter everywhere.]
Like they've summoned a miniature army.
no subject
[Still, it was a bit of a comfort to know that they weren't alone on being in a dangerous situation. For once.]
no subject
I'll seek out any information I can find on our new condition. Then I'll have to learn how to weaponize this ability, and find yours...and alliances will be critical, of course. There isn't time to lose.
[...oh dear. It's a Doc panic tangent, but really he has no idea why he of all people is now a magical rock warrior]
no subject
Doc, no offense, but I'm sure we have some time to lose. I'm pretty sure we're not under attack right now if everyone else is this calm.
[He would like to try to find his ability just to see what it is (and in case they have to fight soon), but seriously, if they're not under a strict time limit he doesn't see why they need to stress out.]
no subject
[Terrible joke. Sorry!]
But there are many things I must learn before I can begin to stand on even footing: geology, gemology, history, strategy, everything I might need to know to succeed. And I don't know how much information that would consist of or how long it would take to learn.
[Is there a library, he sounds like he needs a library for some overzealous preparation.]
