TEST DRIVE
Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.
How this works:
☆ This is a test drive for
cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.
☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.
☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.
☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.
☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.
YOUR OPTIONS:
☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!
☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.
☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.
☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.
You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

Aww, don't be sad! [Kongou keeps her optimism up, and pets Dorumon on the head.] Like Winston Churchill said, "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." So just keep it up, and you'll be able to lift it one day!
[lift it, maybe... who said anything about using it effectively]
no subject
His ears twitch when she touches his head.]
Do you have one? [He's talking about wepons. A lot of people can pull something out of their gem, it seems, but he's never seen one quite as unmanageable as his.]
no subject
Oh, watch this!
[Kongou looks to the seas, before extending her hand, and DID SHE JUST SHOOT A LASER BEAM ACROSS THE OCEAN
JESUS
IT'S KINDA LIKE FIRING FROM A WARSHIP BUT NOT REALLY
No physical weapons, though.] It's a bit hard to control, though. [muffled sounds of something screaming in the distance, what did she set fire to...]
no subject
oh
uh
huh.]
Oh. [...He stands on his tiptoes, trying to peer out to...wherever it went. His ears are folded back against his head.] ...Careful with that.
no subject
She seems to be pretty chill with the fact that she can shoot lasers out of her hands, though. Kongou just waves offhandedly at Dorumon.] Problem nothing! [WHAT KIND OF SHITTY NOT-ENGLISH IS THAT... it's like she tried saying something in one language, and switched to another. And the gems are confused.]
Sometimes, I shoot it out of nowhere when I'm surprised, but I'm getting better at preventing unintentional discharge.
[this girl is a safety hazard]
What other kind of powers do you have?
no subject
Dorumon tries to shake the image of disaster from his head.]
I can make this...and I can speak to computers. [That was how someone described it when he did it and that's what he's going with because the whole situation doesn't make too much sense to him.] A computer ran my world, so it's easy for me.
no subject
Which is a lot, both here and back home, so!]
Ohhh, really? What do they say? [As mentioned, she's a talking warship, so this would be of interest to her.] Are they like the computers that run your world?
no subject
[That's honestly the best way he can describe it. It's not like he ever interfaced with Yggdrasil that way, so he doesn't really have a point of comparison, but it's safe to say that they're nothing like the host.
THANKS DAD]I think they like being talked to. As long as you're polite, they'll do whatever they can to help you.
no subject
[Kongou taps her chin, as if deep in thought.] Ohh, I know! If you can talk to computers, you can talk to robots, right? [Why robots. What is she suggesting.]
Maybe, the computers can help to program a robot to lift up your weapon for you! And then, baaam!
[That's a fucking terrible idea, not even considering the logistics and realism of bringing a robot into a fight.]
no subject
I don't think that'll work. [Flat-out.] It doesn't seem right to let someone else use it.
no subject
[She means try to refine the giant halberd-thing to a more realistic and manageable size.]
Think of trying to make it small enough to hold, first!
no subject
Dorumon nods and closes his eyes. His gem is an orb set between his shoulder blades, black flecked with gold, and the light that emerges from it when he focuses is gold too, stretching into shape.
...And then, with a sound like a guitar string snapping but duller, the (admittedly a little smaller) Ouryuken breaks free of Dorumon and hurtles, spinning, into the air.
What goes up, must come down. Dorumon looks up frantically, squawks, and tugs Kongou along with him as he bolts.]
no subject
Ruuun! Run for your liiife!
[YOU DON'T NEED TO SAY IT OUT LOUD, KONGOU
Hopefully, the Ouryuken doesn't fall at an angle or something--]
no subject
And when the sand clears, they're back to square one.
...The sword is a little smaller, though.]
no subject
Well... maybe the way to use it is a secret! A riddle!
[A secret that Dorumon can only unlock with the power of his kokoro, or some shit.]
no subject
A riddle...like, "what has two hands but can't clap"?
[That makes no sense.]
no subject
Yes! But instead, what has two hands but can't use it to lift up their weapon?!
[...
..........]
I mean, what has two hands and other ways to lift a weapon.
no subject
He looks at his paws.]
This is all I have to lift things with, though.
no subject
Maybe they want you to think out of the box. Use your other powers to lift it! Or... lift it with the power... of teamwork!
[yeah because an entire group of people struggling to lift the ouryoken sounds like a wonderful idea]
no subject
That's actually a really good idea and he's going to go try it because he's pretty sure it was alive or something back home and he doesn't think there's any rule against it being similar here.
Dorumon nods and walks up to the Ouryuken and...headbumps it. Presses his face against the flat of the blade and closes his eyes.
He tries to commune with it for maybe ten seconds before pulling away.]
I don't think my powers work on it.
no subject
Bending her knees, Kongou sticks closer to the ground to look at the Ouryuken.] Maybe you can find someone with telekinesis! Those people who can lift things with their miiiinds!
[Are there even any in this place, or is she quoting sci-fi books?!]
With their help, you might be able to lift it up!
no subject
There's someone like that here? [He assumes that she's talking about something she's seen.]
