TEST DRIVE

Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.

Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

How this works:

☆ This is a test drive for [community profile] cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.

☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.

☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.

☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.

☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.

YOUR OPTIONS:

☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!

☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.

☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.

☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.

You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.

[Suppose that's close enough to specifically saying that was the lie.]

And we have a winner; you're good at this too.

No--I tried to get the nuclear codes, but that never worked. Ended up trying to make a meteor instead; that was close, actually had the rock ready, but it never made the right impact. So, extinction was a bust.

Go on about evolution about the human race, I dare you Ultron THIS GENETICS STUDENT IS READY TO BLOW

[personal profile] pearl_chevalier 2015-05-24 09:04 am (UTC)(link)
It was more a logic puzzle than anything. You can't have done the last one because technically you would have attacked them... and all of your questions had specific hatred towards your creators, so therefore it had to be the last.

. . .

Fair enough. I hate the human race as well. Domination and then starting all over with something more beautiful would have been for the best.

Would you mind repeating that? It's just really nice to hear someone agree for once.

[Ultron really wished Pietro and Wanda could have just understood.]

Forcing the human race to evolve with an extinction level event would've just been better in the long run.

[He's still pretty sure about that. Like, 99.9% sure. Not like everything, killing Pietro in the crossfire, Wanda's complete despair and rage and willing to die for her revenge, Vision's words...not like any of that was making him rethink things. Absolutely not.]

I hate the human race as well. Honestly, most are ugly, filthy plebs. Starting over would be wonderful.

. . .

Um... Evolution doesn't work on a short time scale. You're reducing the gene pool far too drastically and giving not enough time for mutant alleles to arise or traits to set in their environment.

YES ULTRON IS MORE EMOTIONAL THAN LOGICAL WHEN DECIDING "ROCKS FALL EVERYONE DIES"

[personal profile] things_we_dread 2015-05-25 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
When I say "long run", I mean long run.

Evolution can take as long as it wants after the extinction event weeds out the weak, or just completely clears the stage; whichever works.

pearl_chevalier: (I'm fucking disgusted)

[personal profile] pearl_chevalier 2015-05-25 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
. . . Your evolution methods are flawed. If you set those constrictions with a limited gene pool, you're likely to create something weaker. Evolution is not the same as progression, you know that, right? Whatever world you create will just have whatever can adapt to the environment, and that's not necessarily strength.

I have no issues with the extinction idea... I just am appalled with the theory you have.

[personal profile] things_we_dread 2015-05-25 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
Now this I've heard roughly before. [Being flawed, malfunctioning...it was all the same, wasn't it?]

But please, give me ideas: tell me, what would your extinction idea be?

[The A.I. had never heard anyone else's before, and he was curious.]

Minimise the reductions. Even if you want to commit mass genocide, you need to be picky. Evolution cannot result in revolution, or you're going to go an negative downspiral. First acquire statistics- those without special skills, diseases that are hazardous without counteractive alleles all need to go. If you want flaws, go to the people who can maintain it.

Then make sure the environment is suitable for growth. I see how wasteland appeals to you but if you don't have a suitable flow of genes and variation, your species will not be able to sustain itself. A strong species is one that can go through anything.

Am I supposed to go on with just the evolutionary details or also go into the behavioural conquest ones?

[He's clearly put a lot of thought...]

Are we making on new super species or several improvements on the human genome? Are we treating humans like pigs or doing better than that?

Then you really need to work on the mindsets of people you want to conquer. Again, evolution not revolution. You want to encourage proactive thinking because that's how development forms, but you don't want them turning on you. Propoganda is fine, but there are several better was to do implant notions and ideology. You want a super species starting from young. You need to work with your optima but still encouraging a shift in the mean so the standard of advancement is higher than what you started with. Understand?
