TEST DRIVE

Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.

Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

How this works:

☆ This is a test drive for [community profile] cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.

☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.

☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.

☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.

☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.

YOUR OPTIONS:

☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!

☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.

☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.

☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.

You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.

pretend he's canon okay (also pretend my ISP didn't die for twelve hours and make this super late)

[There's someone watching you, Dennis. Not in the audience, not even in the alleyways - not visibly, anyway. You likely can't see him, but he's there, out of eyeshot, waiting patiently for your performance to finish and the audience to dissipate. However long it takes, he'll wait, silent and smiling that awful little smile of his. Waiting for his prey to become vulnerable is his specialty, after all.

You've been missing in action, Dennis. Missing with Akaba Reiji's laughable hodge-podge of weakling Standard duelists, traitors, and Xyz scum. And he would very much like to know why.

Your first alert to his presence will come when you're alone; a slow, mocking clap, followed by Yuuri stepping out from his hiding spot. Delicate spires of rubellite, all stemming from a geode of some form, flare out from behind his fringe like a crown, as if Yuuri didn't cut an intimidating enough presence already.]

An enthralling show, to be sure. But then, trickery was always your specialty, wasn't it?

[His eyes are cold and pitiless. If you say the wrong thing, if he so much as suspects you've gotten any less faithful to Academia in this interim...]

[Frankly, he's almost a little thankful Yuuri finally deigned to reveal himself. Dennis can appreciate a flair for the dramatic more than anyone, and a proper entrance is absolutely the most important part of any performance, but just the sense of being watched was starting to throw him off his game. Not that it makes the jolt of fear making its way down his spine any more comfortable, but still.

Dennis smiles a guilty smile, adjusting his collar. He knows that tone. That's the kind of tone you only hear when somebody's about to get carded. Or worse. Gotta choose his words carefully.
]

What can I say? I'm an entertainer to my core!

[That's right, just play it cool. Be cheerful. Make some small talk, if you have to.]

Fashionably late again, I take it?

[That smile's not going anywhere; if anything, his eyes narrow a little further.]

Not as late as you, Dennis. We've missed you.

[And not in the nice way, as you can probably tell. His eyes are flicking over you whenever you speak, looking for tells, body language, anything that can show him if you're telling the truth or lying...

Don't try to bluff or trick him on that, though. Making him more suspicious isn't worth the risk.]
equilibristic: (Give em an act with lots of flash in it)

[Credit where credit's due, Dennis is actually a pretty decent liar, despite what certain other Lancers might tell you. He wouldn't have been chosen for this assignment if that wasn't the case. But that said, there really isn't much point to lying to Yuuri. Better to just tell him the truth and hope for the best.]

I've been trying to check in with you, but it's tough. Things've been real busy lately!

[Sadly, the truth isn't something that comes to easily to our dear friend Dennis here.]

[Of course he knows Dennis is a good liar - that's why he's keeping his eye on you. He wouldn't associate so much with someone whose job description is to be deceitful without being pretty damn sure he can tell when you're lying.]

Really? Do tell. I would love to hear why you've been out of contact for days now.

[Cut to the chase, Dennis, or he might get a whole lot less patient.]
