TEST DRIVE

Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.

Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

How this works:

☆ This is a test drive for [community profile] cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.

☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.

☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.

☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.

☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.

YOUR OPTIONS:

☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!

☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.

☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.

☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.

You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.

Oh no. You have to be...

Wait, there are DEMONS?! DEMONS IN THE SANCTUM?!

[Ok, calm down. No one had to know. She took a breath, pinching her nose between her fingers].

H-how do you know they're demons? They might just be, you know, really ugly where they're from!
alittlemystery: (Seriously dude.)

[personal profile] alittlemystery 2015-03-25 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Because it's the one that harasses my family.

...he use to be a triangle but I guess he has a human body now.

I'm not actually sure if it's one he got with the gem or if he hijacked someone's body again.

Don't worry, mostly he just sticks to harassing people and alluding to me how he's going to descend the world into chaos when we get back home. I think he's taking this place as a vacation.
connie_maheswaran: (Dial information)

[personal profile] connie_maheswaran 2015-03-25 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
You get harassed by a triangle? That's a scary thing in your world? Hmm.

[What a strange sounding world. Being scared by shapes. So odd].

Wait, he can take bodies at will? That's a thing?

Ok, that's bad, really bad. I mean, the crystal gems are ok, but there were gems from the home world who were very NOT ok. The last thing we'd want would be your triangle demon guy meeting up with them.
alittlemystery: (Tell me more.)

[personal profile] alittlemystery 2015-03-25 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
What are those gems like? You say gems and Crystal Gems like they're different things.
connie_maheswaran: (you sure?)

[personal profile] connie_maheswaran 2015-03-25 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
I've never met any of the home world gems except for one, and even she had been imprisoned on Earth for many years, so its not accurate.

The Crystal gems have been on Earth a long time, and they fight to save humans. They're a little rough around the edges, but they're very knowledgeable and kind and have the best interests of Earth at heart. The home world gems, they have their own agenda, and from what their actions have been so far, I would say they're not very concerned toward earth's inhabitants.
alittlemystery: (This book says trust no one.)

[personal profile] alittlemystery 2015-03-25 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Could this be an alternate reality where things turned out different and there are no Crystal Gems?
connie_maheswaran: (Doing this)

[personal profile] connie_maheswaran 2015-03-25 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
But you just said the people in...Waverly City aren't surprised by Gems at all, and that there's been battles before. So there have to have been gems here, or at least ones that ventured forth into the town.

What exactly do they know about the gems, and what have gems had to do here? I wonder if this is another place that needs defending from monsters.
alittlemystery: (Tell me more.)

[personal profile] alittlemystery 2015-03-25 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
They know about the corrupt gems but that's like. Their way of life. Like some towns have coyotes. This town has corrupt gem monsters.

They mention the war like it was pretty recent but it seems like a lot of stuff got ruined by it. The library is kind of a sad mess and like I said the internet is awful.
connie_maheswaran: (Oh boy...)

[personal profile] connie_maheswaran 2015-03-25 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
Corrupt gems are NOT like Coyotes. Coyotes travel in packs and are animals, they have rules. Corrupt gems cause destruction everywhere and break things and hurt people. If these people accept the existence of gems here without hating them, they're probably scared and glad we'll be fighting for them.

It would be a good idea to find out how recent this war was, and if there were any bad gems still lurking around. I wonder if they have any decent IT guys around here.
alittlemystery: (Sigh.)

[personal profile] alittlemystery 2015-03-25 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
What if IT can't fix the problem?

If there was a big war the entire infrastructure for that kind of stuff could be down all over the world.

If dad was here he could at least try. I told him to teach me that stuff...
connie_maheswaran: (This is a puzzler)

[personal profile] connie_maheswaran 2015-03-25 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
If it was that bad, wouldn't the town be in a far worse situation than this? I mean, people would be at home, panicking, or scared at the sight of us? Actually, why would it choose a place like this, so removed from, well, well populated cities, where there's more chance people could get hurt?

Ugh, I don't even want to think about how bad it might be.

Is your dad a cable repairman?
alittlemystery: (How encouraging.)

[personal profile] alittlemystery 2015-03-25 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
You can only survive in Constant Terror state for so long before you have to calm down and deal with it. And for all we know every town has its own weird gem temple. Or maybe all the remaining populations are this small...ugh...

No, he does a lot of computer stuff for work though and is always able to fix it at our house.

Old Man McGucket would be able to do it even better probably but that guy has been through enough already. He's a little ah.

I don't actually have words.
connie_maheswaran: (Wary)

[personal profile] connie_maheswaran 2015-03-25 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
Wouldn't they at least have told us more than what we can guess by now? If they expect us to fight for them, they'd have figured out we're all new to what we're doing. They'd be pretty much obligated to give us answers, don't you think?

[It would make SENSE to, anyway, though none of this seemed to right at the moment anyway].

Oh, right. I'm sure that comes in handy.

Sounds like the word you're looking for, to be polite, is off.
alittlemystery: (Excuse me!)

[personal profile] alittlemystery 2015-03-25 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeaahh. Kind of an understatement.

So your hero friends back home explained a lot of this stuff to you, you said?
connie_maheswaran: (Amped)

[personal profile] connie_maheswaran 2015-03-25 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll take your word for it.

He explained what he knew. Some of it he still didn't. There's a lot that the Gems wanted to keep from him because, well, he's still pretty young.
alittlemystery: (Excuse me!)

[personal profile] alittlemystery 2015-03-27 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
You're like...twelve?
alittlemystery: (. . .)

[personal profile] alittlemystery 2015-03-27 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, just checking. It's been awhile since there's been people my own age besides my sister and her friends.
connie_maheswaran: (Check it)

[personal profile] connie_maheswaran 2015-03-27 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Trust me, it doesn't exactly happen with us either. Most people around us are older.
alittlemystery: (How about we buy some stock?)

[personal profile] alittlemystery 2015-03-27 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Mabel'll be happy to have another kid around.
connie_maheswaran: (Gazing)

[personal profile] connie_maheswaran 2015-03-27 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Mabel? Your sister, right? What's she like?
alittlemystery: (Uh girl plz.)

[personal profile] alittlemystery 2015-03-27 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
Happy, cheerful, loud, creative... Boy crazy...
connie_maheswaran: (This is a puzzler)

[personal profile] connie_maheswaran 2015-03-27 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. She sounds...intense.

[Boy crazy? At her age? Weird! But creative was good!]
