Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.

Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

How this works:

☆ This is a test drive for cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.

☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.

☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.

☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.

☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.


YOUR OPTIONS:

☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!

☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.

☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.

☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.

You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.

Mine is Jane. It's nice to meet you, though I wish it were under better circumstances.

Yeah, well, can't be helped.

*She'll take that hand and give it a nice, firm shake.*

So who's in charge here?

Hoo hoo! Who indeed - I've heard that the large heartlike gem over there [She points to the big pulsing gem.] is supposed to call the shots, but I haven't made myself acquainted with it yet.

It's one of the few things here I'm not too keen on believing...or testing. Not just yet, anyway.

Yeah, like... how're we even supposed to talk to it? *Holding up her hand so that Jane can see her gem, she adds:* Are these gonna act like cell phones or what? Some kinda communicator? That's not so bad for me, but, uh...

*Her gaze traces up to where Jane's own gem rests. Talk about awkward...*

I...think we just have to touch it. Some folks have gems in strange places, like on their feet or what have you. I doubt it would be very comfortable for them to press their gem to that thing.

...huh...

Maybe there should be, like, a sign or something? Like a big arrow pointing at it that says "WELCOME TO WHEREEVER-THIS-IS! TO SPEAK TO OUR LEADER, TOUCH THIS."

Maybe we should make one. It'd certainly make things a lot easier.

Think we should ask it about that first? Just to make sure it's okay. They might not want anyone messing with the dramatic atmosphere...

*That was accompanied by air quotes. She lets her arms swing back down to her sides.*

...Even if that'd be easier on the newbs.

You never know with these leader types. King-Uncle can be SUPER picky.

[Didn't she mention she had cousins? Is one of them a prince or princess, ergo a king for an uncle?]

...buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut he can be really, really picky about it. Like, sometimes when he has us go roll up stuff for him to use to make stars and such, he's all "And I want you to roll up as much food as possible! This has to be the best-tasting katamari you can possibly make!" Or "Bring me the biggest cow or bear or cowbear you can catch!" Or "You have to make sure that the fire doesn't go out!"

So, you know... it gets tricky. And you can't really argue with him, since he's the King of All Cosmos and all.

[Where to even begin with all that weirdness.]

And a katamari is what?

It's... hmm. If you don't know, then you must not be from Earth... or our Earth, anyway. Mmm.

*She folds her arms again, mulling it over. How to explain this to somebody who doesn't have any good frame of reference? After a while, she nods to herself and looks back up.*

*Oh, good, she understands! That perks her up immediately, and she starts gesturing, outlining a sphere with her hands.*

Okay, so katamari are like these nice, round balls with lots of little bumps on 'em. Some of 'em are really tiny, and others start out HUGE -- depends on what King-Uncle's feeling at the time. Sometimes we've just gotta roll up a bunch of Mahjong tiles and paperclips and whatever, and other times we've gotta go after cows. And bears. And cowbears. Then there's the BIG jobs where we wind up plowing through buildings and everything.

Anyway, they're like sticky balls, but they run on spirit! And the bigger you are, the more you can pick up! And the more you pick up, the bigger you get, and the bigger you get, the more you can pick up... you following this so far?

No, I'm the sorry one, I went there.

[Wow. That's...a lot of information. About balls. Special, sticky katamari balls. That are bumpy. And grow. And somehow this involves cowbears.

...Jane's just going to nod weakly like she understands the logic behind any of this madness.]

It happens. When balls get involved the jokes seem almost inevitable.

Then once we've gathered enough things -- or King-Uncle gets tired of waiting -- he uses the ROYAL RAINBOW to take us into space and turns the katamari and all the energy stored inside into a star, or a constellation, or a planet, or whatever! ♪
