TEST DRIVE
Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.
How this works:
☆ This is a test drive for
cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.
☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.
☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.
☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.
☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.
YOUR OPTIONS:
☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!
☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.
☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.
☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.
You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

Escha Malier | Atelier Escha & Logy
[Escha takes a look around the temple in sheer befuddlement. Everything looks... destroyed. But that's not it. Back where she is from everything looks like it's in various states of decay. No... what is interesting is that everything was so... alive. The water, the sky, even the air. Everything was so clean and fresh and wonderful that she could only come to one conclusion.]
I-I-Is this a dream? W-W-W-Where a-am I?
[She clasps a hand to her chest and finds a lovely gem set into the shape of an apple.]
Ahm... that is... er...
[Everything was coming all at once and was so overwhelming. Perhaps somebody would come help her?]
B
[A few weeks had passed and Escha is in higher spirits. She has found out that the world, called Earth, seemed to have much in common with the world she came from. She was especially relieved to find out about apples, and incredibly surprised that Alchemy was virtually unknown.]
[The world was full of all sorts of new technical marvels, like cars and airplanes. She looked in awe at each one as she moved toward the food market. They were all precision machines, and functioned masterfully. She thought about Logy, then, and wondered if he would be interested in how they worked. Maybe she could bring one back home, if she ever got back?]
[The stalls were lined, as usual, with a lot of produce. Escha, of course, took a look at all of them with the interest of an alchemist There were grains, and fruit, and all sorts of things. On occasion, she would even gather up the trash and broken metal bits that were around. At first, she would ask the people nearby if she had to pay for them, and was even more surprised to hear that they weren't selling them at all! She thanked them and always kept a pouch ready for any such event.]
[On this particular day, she happened to find an especially colorful piece of trash. She was so excited at the idea of putting in her collection that she was completely blind to seeing anyone else coming by. No sooner did she bend down did she feel a bump on the top of her head, causing her to fall backward onto her butt. Ohh gosh, this was soo embarassing!]
...um... um... I'm okay! ouch

[As soon as Akoge says something, her spine, hair, and "tail" stood straight up... hanging in place for a good two seconds before finally dropping.]
U-Um... haha... I-I'm fine! I'm fine... e-except...
...where... am I, exatcly?

U-um... I'm sorry, but... before you continue do you... think... you'd mind telling me... w-who you are?

Does that have anything to do with... [she looks down at the stone between her cleavage]

[He's got class he won't look. But he shows his hand where his blister pearl is.]
Yeah, that's what I mean.

...WHAT IS GOING ON?? This is way TOO weird.

[She wants to object, but, yeah... there's no sense in doing so. So, instead... she covers her mouth with her hands before clasping them together, turning around, and finding a nice rock to sit.]
[She takes a deep breath and tries to fight the painful knot stirring in her stomach.]
--okay.

[First pause. Freak out or no?]

[WAIT GO BACK TO THE GEM MONSTER BIT]
no subject
[No freak out... audibly. Her brain, meanwhile, is going full-on spastic mode.]
no subject
[Maybe you should just yell and ask questions]
no subject
You... how...
--HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT LIKE IT WAS NOTHING??
no subject
[Yeah... MAKING MONSTERS]
no subject
...not that, I meant the part about getting sent to a place, becoming a gem, and being told you have to fight these things.
None of that is fair! I have a home to go to! I have family! And friends! I have a job!! I can't go fighting monsters! What about my city? What about ME?

...you seem okay about being here?
no subject
But... I endured. I worked with the others. It's tolerable here, if that's what you're asking.
no subject
[It was a start?]
I'm... one of two Alchemists in a small village called Colseit. We... do things! Like... look into why water isn't flowing, or to research old ruins, or to make things for Central and around town. It's a lot of work, but I'm happy to do it.
I'm... not worried about me... well, okay, I might be a little... but I'm the only one back home that can make things like... potions and stuff. And I don't think Central's going to send somebody to cover me for... gosh, maybe ever?
It's all... a lot to take in.
no subject
It is a lot. Take your time trying to digest all of this. It's better you have some idea before you touch the crystal heart.
no subject
I mean, it seems only right, especially since nobody asked me to do anything. Maybe I just won't offer to help.
