TEST DRIVE

Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.

Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

How this works:

☆ This is a test drive for

cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.

☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.

☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.

☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.

☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.

YOUR OPTIONS:

☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!

☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.

☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.

☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.

You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.

Not terribly long, I'm afraid. I would have been gone long before now if I had the chance.

Now, what did you mean...about having some idea? You're not alone, are you...?

Mm...so you haven't had a chance to look around, I guess...

I'm...not along exactly...I have Pinkie Pie here, and I've made friends...It's just...a little different, seeing someone who knows what it's like being in other worlds...

That's good, I'm not sure what I'd do if you'd been-

[Record scratch.]

...I-I beg your pardon?

[She pauses, tilting her head a bit.] Being...in another world...? You didn't know...?

I was choosing to ignore that!

[His hands press against the side of his head as he stares down, trying to keep himself calm. It isn't working.

Another world, of course it's another world. He was hoping Fluttershy being here just meant it was...some sort of secret area of Equestria, but no, that ridiculous Heart had to be right. He can't do this, he can't be a world jumper.]

This can't be happening, there has to be a way back...

[She frowned a little, sitting beside him and using her wing to drape over his shoulders.]

I'm sorry...we haven't found any way yet...

[He looks over at her the moment her wing touches him, his hands dropping to his side once again. Although it doesn't change any of the sadness in his eyes, it at least calms him down.]

So that's it, then? Is this really what my life's become? ...I suppose it could be worse, it isn't as though I don't deserve it. And...you're here, so I won't sound completely out of my mind to any of the local population.

Mm...I know, it can be hard to...adjust...and there's still a chance you'll get back home someday...

For now, though...we should try to do the best we can while we're here...

Someday isn't soon enough.

[The bitterness is undeniable, but he just can't help it. He had a whole life planned ahead of him, one does not simply "try to do the best they can"

...At the same time, the last thing he wants to do is scare away Fluttershy with his pessimism, and his eyes grow soft, shocked by his own actions. Damage control, must perform damage control.]

I mean...I'm sorry. This is just a lot to take in all at once.

[She just smiles gently.] I know...It's okay...

[She could understand her anger, even if she didn't have any herself about situations like this. She just wished she could do more for him.]

[He scratches the back of his neck, glad to see that resolved quickly enough. At the very least, a new world meant less people knew who he was, and it isn't like he sent a stupid letter to everyone like last time.

He could so hide right now... If he wanted to-]

So then, there's you and myself so far, is there anyone else from Equestria here? I believe you mentioned...Pinkie Pie.

[No offense to Fluttershy's choice of friends, but Pinkie Pie is weird. There, he bracket said it.]

[Pinkie is weird. But that's part of her charm.]

Mm...no...No one I've seen so far...

[On one hand, that means he doesn't have to worry about all the terrible people he's left behind. Like that horrible bear who had a problem with his pants. ...Then again, it also meant separating from all the friends he did manage to make, like Feena...]

How...how to you manage it? You're so optimistic about all of this, how to you find the energy to continue knowing you may never see anyone ever again?

[That actually gets her to flinch a bit, and her ears fold against her head as she glances away.]

It's...not easy, really...Sometimes I just...try not to think about it...

[Turning back to him, she manages a smile.]

But usually...it's because there are still people here...good people, who've never had to deal with this kind of thing...so I try to help...and making friends with them makes it a little easier...

[Ah, so it does effect her more than she lets on. He'll try not to talk about it as much, then.]

Yes, that does sound like something you would do.

[So does that mean he'd have to start helping people if he got caught in some sort of horrible world hopping loop? It's not like it hasn't started already or anything. ...He'd really rather not, pass. Some people are just not worth it.]

Is...is it possible to leave this room yet? It's starting to unnerve me.

[Fluttershy nodded.] Sure...how about I show you to your room?

As long as it's anywhere but here.

[His way of saying "whatever"]

Lead the way.

[With another nod, she'll lead him to where the rest of the residential rooms are.]

We'll have to find the one that reacts to your gem...

Please...don't say that. I'm trying very hard to ignore it.

[Which is really difficult considering he can feel it. Because if there's one thing Kafei adores, it's being turned into things. Even if the gem thing isn't as...intrusive, it's still there and he'd like it to stop please.]

Maybe it'd be easier to simply see your room first.

Mm...all right...

[She'll lead him to a door that opens with soft glow of the gem on her chest, revealing the inside of her cottage back in Equestria.]

Come on in...

[That's...that's her cottage. It's like he's right back in Equestria, how did... He looks inside, then back outside, then inside again. How...how is it doing this? It's...

Magic, isn't it? Of course it is.]

It's just like your home...

Mm...the rooms are able to change, according to how the occupants want it to look like...as long as we don't create anything too big...

[Despite how similar it appears to her cottage, there is a notable difference; mainly a large wall that stretched farther than would be possible in the house, filled with pictures of people and ponies and animals.

And if Kafei's looking, he might notice his own picture - in the fox form he had in Equestria - up along the wall.]

[Kafei's hand runs along the wall as he looks around, as if testing if it's really real.]

They can make anything?

[How big is too big? What if he made Clock Town... What if he could make...certain people?

That train of thought gets cut off when he sees the pictures on the wall, some of those faces very familiar to him. Fluttershy had used her room to create a whole wall of memories and- That's him. That's him as an animal. Right there. In plain sight. Please tell him he wasn't really that...cutesy.]

N-No one has seen these, have they?

Mm...not anything...Trying to make something bigger than a mansion I think is too difficult...We also can't make food here...and anything we make here we can't bring outside of the room...

[She watches him, before glancing up at the wall of pictures.]

[So no Clock Town. Still, the idea of modeling a room after something he's more familiar with actually sounds amazing. Every other world has been too strange, too foreign. Not being able to take anything out doesn't even sound that bad, why would he ever leave?

Oh wait, maybe to do some damage control. Because a few people isn't none.]
