TEST DRIVE - Part 3
Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.
How this works:
☆ This is a test drive for
cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.
☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.
☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.
☆ This post will remain open until it begins to approach 5000 comments! Then a new test-drive post will be made.
☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.
☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.
YOUR OPTIONS:
☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!
☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.
☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.
☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.
You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

...Well... Everyone who comes through one of those holes gets turned into a Gem. See, look? Here's mine...
*And she turns her left hand so that he can see the Star Ruby resting on the back of it more clearly.*
And yours is probably... Could you turn around a moment...?
no subject
[Flowey will go ahead and look behind him, though he doesn't exactly see the point of this.]

no subject
Golly... If I truly am a gem now... What exactly are gems?
[Flowey can't help but be curious.]
...Do gems have souls?
no subject
*That took her completely off guard, and she tilts her head a little.*
...Well, I... I think so? Like, I don't see why we wouldn't...?
no subject
I finally have a soul again... I... I can feel...
...
Does this crystal heart have an owner, or is it alive?
no subject
*As she confesses that, she folds her arms, clearly uncomfortable. This part generally isn't easy. At all. And seeing how happy Flowey is right this moment, even if she doesn't entirely understand it... Explaining the rest of it is probably gonna suck.*
no subject
...Do they think "kill or be killed"?
[Flowey, stop, because you just might start to scare Ichigo.]
no subject
And no... no, there's no killing. Fighting, yes, but since we're Gems, if we get hurt too badly we'll just poof back into our gems to recover.
Still, you'll wanna take good care of yours, okay? Don't let it get damaged... and if you do get cracked... or, well. I guess you can't see yours easily, so you'll have to ask others to check up on it for you, huh...?
no subject
[He has ways to undo that if it does. And he'd certainly be determined enough. But no kill or be killed, huh? That's actually nice to hear. He'd be okay with fighting, but having the world be THAT bad... Flowey's not sure he can handle it. It would be as bad as a reset back at home without him losing his memories.
And speaking of home...]
Gems and humans, huh? Sounds like it was back at home, only with monsters instead of gems.
no subject
*These aren't the kind of monsters you're used to, Flowey...*
no subject
You gems must all be a little bit crazy hugging them or flirting with them and making them happy like that...
[He says all that without a trace of irony.]
It's hard work, befriending people that hurt you, on purpose or otherwise...
1/3
But... you saw all the other bubbled gems back around the Heart, right? Those're gems that've been broken or corrupted. If that happens to yours, you can't regenerate right, and turn into a monster.

no subject
...But what's wrong with being a monster? I was one.
1/2
*Looking downcast, she adds:* We've already... had a couple cases where one of the others managed to crack their gem, and... changed. Thankfully, we were able to heal them enough that they changed back, but... it's like... Well...
2/2
...Think about... Well, think about one of your friends, okay? Somebody you really trust. And... try to imagine what it'd be like to see them suddenly in a lot of pain. Because... because suddenly, it's like their body doesn't belong to them anymore. They're losing their mind, their form, everything that made them them.
...That's what we mean by 'monster'. They're Gems who... who're in a whole lotta trouble.
no subject
[He sounds and says something which indicates surprise, so why does he look angry? Flowey also isn't really paying attention to the fact that he felt nothing over that statement. He's just going to ask further.]
And those were all the gems that turned that way? How many have you saved so far?
no subject
*Sighing again, she shakes her head, clearly frustrated.*
...Sorry. I know this is a lot to take in all at once. For what it's worth, if... if you don't wanna fight, it's totally fine. If you're not confident, it's better to avoid conflict if you can. The Heart hasn't been very good about bringing in folks who're used to fighting, so...
no subject
A lot. Wanna see a sneak preview?

It seems like... Well, have you ever played an RPG? Something where you start with one skill, and you learn more magic an' stuff as you level up? It's basically like that. The more time we spend here, the more powers we gain. Everyone's got their own set, an' we don't know exactly what we're gonna get...
no subject
[Is that face the face of something good? It doesn't look it... Flowey finds "leveling up" appealing, but is it similar to how his world works? Well... It just sounds like helping monsters become gems again will allow him new powers.]
Let's do it. What do we need to do?
