TEST DRIVE - Part 3
Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.
How this works:
☆ This is a test drive for
cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.
☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.
☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.
☆ This post will remain open until it begins to approach 5000 comments! Then a new test-drive post will be made.
☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.
☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.
YOUR OPTIONS:
☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!
☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.
☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.
☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.
You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

He rubs his temple in anger and frustration at the description.]
Yeah, I've....met me like that too.
....Did I hurt anyone?
[....He tried to kill you? You?]
no subject
[He is brand new to this whole brought-in-from-another-world business, and some of the more advanced concepts are still eluding him. Like the possibility of meeting yourself. He is not sure that he believes what this Porky is saying.
He resettles his hands in his pockets, hunching slightly.]
You clobbered us pretty bad. And when time finally flipped out and sucked you back in, Doctor Andonuts and a bunch of animals got sucked up with you.
....you didn't do any of that? So who... I mean, how...
[Out come his hands from his pockets, so he can shake them up and down in a gesture of demanding confusion.]
Porky, what the heck is up, here?!
no subject
Pokey runs his hand through his hair, frustrated at the news. What, should he have been surprised that Picky would have encountered the realier version of him at his worst? ...Well, kind of. Pokey had always been sure he would have been too much of a coward to return to Onett in any capacity that anyone could see him. And now that he knows that isn't the case?
He's a tiny bit unsure what to say.]
No, I'm not the version of me that did that. ...Met one like that version of me, and he was a barrel of laughs, but I don't know if he's the same one that you met here.
[He looks up at Picky not...really used to that. It's odd, to think he has to look up to look Picky in the eyes.]
Pokey. Not Porky.
What do you think nerd? Like the gem said: we're here to protect this place. So that's what I'm going to do til whatever this is is done then I'm going home.
no subject
[Yet another confusing thing. One more thing to make his face scrunch up and give him pause, and give his brother the time to get a word in edgewise. But if he's got a different name, maybe there's other stuff that's different? Maybe. He's still not trusting any of this.]
Okay. Okay, okay. Pokey. [Geez, he is going to screw that up eventually, he knows it.] You... you'd actually do that? You don't think it's lame or something?!
[And then there is that last thing said, which leaves him momentarily wordless, hands posed as though he's wanting to grasp at the concept, but not yet daring.]
...home?
[He has a home? Por...Pokey has a home? His mind immediately flies to the house in Onett where they were kids together, and then just as quickly dismisses it. That's not Picky's home. That sure as hell isn't Porky's, either. So then...]
Where's home?
no subject
[Pokey shrugs non-noncommittally, shoulders rolling concern and care off of him like it was water.]
Didn't say it wasn't lame, I said I'd do it so I can leave this dump.
[...There's more to it than that, but does he really want to get into it with this weirder, older version of his brother? No. Not really. A big part of him wants to just continue to push him away, despite how much he just...wants to see him too. To talk to him.
Pokey doubts he'll have much trouble coming off like an asshole to this Picky, to begin with.
...A big part of him, for some reason, didn't think Picky would actually ask. Pokey doesn't know why; he had hoped, maybe, that this older Picky would be so clearly disenfranchised with his brother that he wouldn't really give a damn about Pokey except to make sure he wasn't actively doing anything evil. But...does Pokey want to talk about Mayfield? Yes. He does all the time.
Does he want to talk about Mayfield here and now, with this Picky?
No. Not really.]
It isn't here, that's for sure. Doesn't really matter, otherwise.
no subject
...it'd figure that's why you'd be doing it.
[And his hands are shoved right back into his jacket pockets.]
It's somewhere. And I don't think it's Onett, either. That's not mine anymore, either.
[Come on, is that enough to get him to take the bait? To say something more? To explain himself? Because that's the question he wants answered here. If you're not that blue-skinned monster, who are you, Pokey?]
no subject
...Good.
You deserved better than that.
He was wrong - I was wrong - for just leaving you there.
no subject
....I don't know if it'd have been good to go with you, either.
no subject
I was a coward to go to begin with. I know that doesn't mean much. But I mean it.
no subject
You really were.
[Even if it's not, it's not like Picky knows what he should be saying. Fiveton is still too fresh in his mind. And he's never, ever been good at this stuff.]
I...
[...missed him? He huffs. He looks away.]
I need to go.
[Having said that, he turns away.]
no subject
...That's fair. And Pokey knows it. He opens his mouth to say one more thing. To say...he doesn't know. What does he say?
And then he knows what to say.]
Take care of yourself.
[And walks away, hands in his pockets. He can't help but keep his head down as he walks away a bit either. Or stop himself from kicking one of the closer stall tables near him as he does leave.
Some things change. Some don't.]
no subject
He doesn't know what it means if he does mean it. He's got to think about this. He can't do this right now. So he makes a vague sound acknowledgement, and hurries off. He'll think about it. He'll think about it and see what other's think and ask Tracy...
....well. Not that last one. How's he going to handle things here, if he can't go to Tracy for this stuff? It's a painful thought, and it's putting more speed into his steps. Once he's free from the crowd, he breaks into a run, now just needing to be gone.]
