TEST DRIVE - Part 3
Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.
How this works:
☆ This is a test drive for
cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.
☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.
☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.
☆ This post will remain open until it begins to approach 5000 comments! Then a new test-drive post will be made.
☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.
☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.
YOUR OPTIONS:
☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!
☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.
☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.
☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.
You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

Um... well, right now you're in Waverly Bay. It's... well, you can probably tell that it's not home, can't you?
[ she smiles weakly. ]
A--and I'm really sorry but I... I might not be the Sonico you've already met...
no subject
You're... Super Sonico-san, right? The model? I've seen pictures...
[It's true, she saw pictures of her in Naomi's dream and assumed that she was a model right away. She's not outright lying and saying she's never met her in person, but she leaves that open for the older girl to assume. And since she's nervous and that ended on an awkward note, she smiles and adds:]
You're even prettier in person!
[That's not even a lie or part of the act, it's how she actually feels. She can't remember if she told the other Sonico the same thing, but she was definitely thinking it.]
no subject
R--right, yes...! That's me. S--sorry about that, this place can be... a little weird when it comes to bringing people here...
[ she looks up at the Heart for a moment, and then back to Rise. ]
You haven't touched the Heart yet, right?
no subject
The Heart?
[Rise follows Sonico's line of sight, towards the big gem she'd been feeling so uncertain about.]
No...
[Goodness, she looks scared. It's really that she's just kind of nervous and uncertain about this strange world she's been pulled into with zero explanation, but she probably looks terrified. Especially to a protective adult.]
no subject
so she carefully stoops down to Rise's level, keeping her smile carefully in place and her tone reassuring. She doesn't want the girl to pick up on her worry and start fretting even more. ]
Don't worry -- it took me a little while to touch it, too. It's kind of scary, right? Especially after turning up in a place like this.
But everyone who's here now has touched it at some point and we're all doing just fine -- so there's really nothing to worry about, okay?
no subject
As apprehensive as she looks, she finds herself nodding in agreement when Sonico says it's kind of scary. Still, she's pretty sure she can trust Sonico. Even if this isn't the same one, she has that same reassuring smile and tone in her voice. Her being here makes Rise feel just a little bit safer already, like she at least has one person she can rely on while she does her best to put together the pieces Junko broke her down into.]
Okay.
[There's a small smile from the small twintailed girl. She seems a little less nervous as she glances over at the Heart again.]
But... what happens when you touch it? It's not dangerous?
no subject
[ ... she's. not sure how to make what the heart does not sound creepy as hell to a frightened little girl but she'll do her best. ]
It just tells you all the things you need to know about being here a little faster than anyone else would be able to. So that way everyone knows what's going on.
no subject
[That's reassuring! She thought it might do something weird like shock her or transform her into something else not human, or...
... Okay, yeah, she's still a little nervous. Rationally, she knows Sonico wouldn't tell her it was safe if it would hurt her. But she's still surrounded by the unknown here, still scared that this place will turn out to be worse than the one she just left.]
Um... can you... come with me?
[She looks away, blushing. She should be brave enough to just do something like this by herself. She wants to be that strong. But she doesn't feel like she's there yet.]
no subject
[ she turns her gaze back to the huge gem for a moment and studies it carefully. it really must seem even huger and scarier for a girl so small -- and when she turns back to Rise, she offers the girl her hand. ]
Of course. We can both touch it at the same time, if that'd make you feel better.
no subject
Thanks...
[She takes the offered hand too. Maybe she's just gotten too used to so many people being taller than her, but she doesn't really think of herself as that small most of the time. And then she notices how small her hands feel in someone else's, even a cute girl like Sonico. It's not a huge difference, but sometimes little details remind her just how small and fragile she must seem.
But right now, the important thing is approaching that huge gem. With Sonico along, she can definitely be brave enough to do this.]
Um. ... Ready?
[She's stopped right in front of the gem, hesitating just a little bit. But the second she sees Sonico going for it along with her, she'll finally reach out to touch the stone.]
no subject
[ she steps forward with Rise and reaches out, pressing her hand against the Heart. She half-expects something to happen, if only because she's touching it at the same time as Rise - but nothing does.
She keeps an eye on the younger girl though -- it's a whole lot of information to get all at once and she doesn't know how she'll react to knowing she's stuck here ]
no subject
When she finally pulls her hand away, she unconsciously holds Sonico's hand a little tighter. And then reaches up to her forehead, as if she expects to find something.
Well, she should. Her heart-shaped stone is there, set under her bangs. Right about where her unicorn horn might be on the pony form she'd had for a year. Now that she knows, it's less scary than she built up in her head. But still...]
We're... not human here, either?
[It's weird. She feels human, Sonico's hand feels warm and real. But they're just projecting their bodies from the gemstones? Is that how it works?]
no subject
But then the either seems to click in her head and she blinks, looking a little startled. ]
... Has this happened to you before?
N--not... this world, but you've been to other worlds like this before, right?
no subject
She'd had much fewer real friends she didn't want to leave in Exsilium, by the time she left. Plus they all knew they were leaving, so they could say their goodbyes. But to everyone she knew in Equestria, she probably just disappeared. Nephenee and Naomi... and Cirno... she's even starting to lose hope that she'd ever see all her friends from home again.
Hearing Sonico's voice again startles her out of her own thoughts. Tensing up for a moment, she grips the hand she's still holding just a little bit tighter.]
Oh... y-yeah.
[She seems to recover quickly though, and smiles up at Sonico again.]
The one I just came from was called Equestria. Everyone was a pony! [A brief pause...] ... Well, most of us were. There were other animals too. [She giggles a little at that. Hearing herself say those words out loud now that she's human again - well, human-shaped - is just kind of funny.] This'll be a lot easier to get used to! I think...
[And then she's pondering that infodump again. Being a gem seems pretty different in its own way.]
no subject
Her lips pinch together for a moment and her brow creases -- a disapproving little frown directed at the situation she's caught herself in, rather than Rise -- but the mention of Equestria and ponies clears it, just a bit. ]
Oh, um...! Th--there's actually some people here who are already from Equestria -- I don't know if they're from your Equestria, but it's... something, right?
no subject
[Looking up at Sonico with big, wide and hopeful eyes now! Maybe Naomi? Nephenee? Cirno? There's a bunch of ponies she knew that she'd love to see again!]
Do you know any of their names?
[It's a little strange hearing it called 'her Equestria', but she gets it. There were ponies there that came from completely different versions. Still, maybe... maybe even one of her friends is here. She doesn't want to pay attention to that little voice inside saying it's not very likely that she'll see everyone that was most important to her... not this time. Maybe she's getting her hopes up, but she's not giving in to the same kinds of negative thoughts she had after Exsilium.]
no subject
[ she feels kind of bad that she can't offer more help, but... ]
... w--well, maybe we could ask around? I'm sure if we did we'd be able to find someone.
no subject
[A beat, before she realizes even she doesn't know the difference between them.]
I mean, just one of them? There were three in Equestria.
[Not that that's particularly important. The important thing is she might already know some of the people here!]
Oh, yeah! That's a great idea, Sonico-san! Maybe Oneechan-... [She cuts herself off abruptly before finishing the thought.] ... or Cirno-chan... [And doesn't finish it there, either. She almost doesn't want to say it out of fear of getting her hopes too high.]
no subject
[ she gives a sheepish little laugh and scratches her cheek, before perking up a little bit at the mention of an oneechan. She knows perfectly well that isn't always to be taken literally, but... ]
Do you think your big sister might be here too? Was she in Equestria with you?
no subject
and Junko, but this one was Cirno's big sis. So that made her Rise's too.]Yeah... her name's Nephenee. [It's pronounced "Nefeni" but still looks weird to attach a '-nee' suffix to. When real life writes RP details.] I don't know if she's here, but...
[Well, it's pretty obvious she hopes so. Considering how young she looks, it's probably not surprising she really doesn't want to be away from her big sister in another world.]
no subject
Um... she might be! There's a lot of people here from Equestria, so you never know...! I-- I haven't met her yet, but I'm sure we could find her if she's here.
She'll probably be looking for you too.
no subject
Yeah...
[She smiles sadly, but tries to keep up at least some hope. She came here, so even if Nephenee or Cirno aren't here, they might still show up. She's been reunited with people she thought she'd never see again before.]
Even if she's not... I'm glad you're here, Sonico-san! You're so kind, and...
[Memories of that conversation she'd shared with the other Sonico, of the time they'd spent together, drive her to want to maintain that connection somehow. It's hard dancing around the "I've met an alternate universe version of you before" part, but that seems too much to say right away.]
I... guess I always thought you'd be a great big sister too...
[In the non-literal sense this time, of course.
For now.But gosh, in the end, that sounded way more awkward than saying spending time with an alternate Sonico made her feel safe and cared for. But at least she didn't break Sonico's brain before she knows she's ready to hear about alternate versions of herself.]no subject
A great big sister, huh...
After a long moment, Sonico lets out a sigh. Then she reaches out, takes Rise's hand and gives it a gentle squeeze. ]
Don't worry, okay, Rise-chan?
I know this is scary but I'll make sure you won't be on your own. We can go and look for your friends and see if we can find anyone else you know and if we can't you can stick with me.
Is that okay with you?
no subject
Stick with you...?
[The way she repeats it, it's like she can't believe she heard it. After a second, her astonished expression turns to a bright smile, and she gives a definitive nod.]
Sure!
[> Super Sonico got +1 bittysis! 43 Oneesan EXP gained! Level up!]
no subject
Alright.
Do you want to go and get something to eat before we go and start looking around? It might take a little while before we find someone and looking on an empty stomach wouldn't be much fun, would it?
