TEST DRIVE - Part 3

Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.

Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

How this works:

☆ This is a test drive for

cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.

☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.

☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.

☆ This post will remain open until it begins to approach 5000 comments! Then a new test-drive post will be made.

☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.

☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.

YOUR OPTIONS:

☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!

☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.

☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.

☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.

You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.

[You know who likes shopping, too? This fashionista, here. Even world-hopping hasn't slaked her love of heading out and trying to find cute little things for herself; clothes, trinkets, accessories. What kind of model would she be if she didn't try to stay on top of things like that? Even if the fashion trends here are a little different than what she's used to - though closer to home's than the last place she was at, at least.

It's therapeutic to her, either way, so it's easy for her to tune out the crowd and just get lost in her own thoughts and assessments of things.

Until something bowls into her back, something hard shoving against the gem planted along her spinal ridge (and that's always such a weird sensation...), and -

Oh god that voice. No way. Not again.

Don't mind Yukari if she sort of jumps and takes a step or two out of the way. Even if it ends with Rise losing her balance. With that she turns to make an assessment of what happened and-

... Wait.

Why is she-]

Oh... hey, sorry! [Blink. Blink blink. No, this isn't right...] Are you alright?

Ah-!

[She does lose her balance, but she manages to catch herself. And then she rubs at her forehead, where she collided with the older girl. Yukari might notice glimpses of a heart-shaped gem under the strangely young Rise's bangs.

She looks up and smiles sheepishly.]

It's okay! I'm fine! Sorry I-

[She was going to finish that sentence, but then she blinks her eyes open and stares at Yukari for a moment instead.]

Huh?! ... Reiko Kujakuin?!

[Well, Yukari's not in her Feather Pink outfit right now, is she? It's probably not surprising at all that a girl Rise's age would recognize her, but... if she really is Rise, she should be too young to recognize Yukari's character. Weird...]

[Well, this is officially the weirdest thing Yukari's had to deal with. She's pretty sure she's right about who this is - but this one is neither in the company of a small, cute animal that might try to bite her, nor...

Uh. Being way too familiar. She'll go with that.

In fact, the exclamation of a name Yukari hasn't heard in a looong time suddenly leads her to think this one might also not remember they've met before. Er... before the before, in fact. But that makes no sense; there's no way Rise was more than a few years younger than her, and she hasn't been in her Featherman role for that long, either...] Huh...? Um... No, I'm... well, actually, yes I am, but my name's Yukari. Takeba Yukari. You're... uh... Kujikawa-san, right? Risette? [Making sure before she ends up finding out something else weird. Like this kid's from skme weird alternate future or something. She clasps her hands behind her back in nervous habit - with that weird way she has of making what should be a pretty open pose seem surprisingly guarded.]

Oh, I know! But... you're really her?

[She's meeting an actress from a TV show! And... she knows her name too?!

It can be easy for Rise to forget what a household name she was developing into back home, after spending a few years as just an ordinary girl in foreign worlds. So she starts to blush at that.]

Um... yeah. I'm Rise. It's... nice to meet you, Takeba-san.

[What else could she say? She's meeting a(nother) celebrity from her world and she's so tall and pretty and gosh...!]

I am, yeah. [Conversation thus far: much easier than before.] 'My arrow of justice will pierce through your heart' and all.

[At least experience has her notably less starstruck around someone she considers much more famous, and she's a fan of herself... this is the third time she's had to go through this introduction, after all.

And, finally, the oddly guarded air she seems to have around her breaks into her smiling and relaxing a little. She still isn't sure why Rise seems to have dropped like half a head in height and a handful of years, but...] Yeah, nice to meet'cha, too. [Well, even if this is the third time she's gone this introduction, it's not like she can really say she actually knows Rise, so it might as well be the first.]

Did you just get here recently, then? Labrys- er... I mean, I don't think anyone else here mentioned seeing you.

[That's true, Rise is kind of reminiscing over having been pretty busy with idol activities at the time she first became aware of Yukari's work. It seems so long ago... when she was famous and not this small. She'll get there again someday. Certainly before she goes back to her own world, she hopes. Assuming she ever does. But for now, she gets to deal with the weirdness of people recognizing she's supposed to have a few extra years than she seems to.]

Yeah, this is my first time out here.

[She blinks, surprised at the mention of that name. She hasn't heard it in some time!]

Wait, you know Labrys too?!

[Let's just keep piling on that inconsistency here, why don't we?]

[No, stop, that's weird, because she only just knew about Labrys right before they met the first time.] Ohh, well, I guess welcome to Waverly Bay. [Hear the slightly not-very-enthusiastic undertone? It's not directed at Rise, but that's Yukari's life at the moment.]

And yeah. Labrys was the one that came to get me and another friend of mine when...

[She frowns. This is weird enough, and then there's the whole "I should't be talking about that secret organization I'm adjunct to in public" thing.] Um... when we had to go help out senpai. So yeah, I met her. You remember meeting her...? [Why...]

Of course! She's my friend...

[And now she's not even thinking about how she looks. She's too distracted by the thought that Yukari Takeba from Featherman knows Labrys. ... What was it she said about a senpai?]

... Do you know Kirijo-san too?

[It's just a guess, but if she's somehow part of Mitsuru Kirijo's organization, that would explain how she knows Labrys.]

[Hm... can't jump the topic ship, but she can at least... maybe draw it away from the Shadow Operatives a bit. Not because she doesn't want to tell Rise (technically she knows anyway...), but because she doesn't want to tell the crowd around them.]

Yep. [She'll even one-up the 'part of her organization' thing as she gives a little laugh, and her smile returns, easily slipping in to cover that touch of wistful loneliness at the thought of her bestie... and the fact Mitsuru isn't here.] Mitsuru-senpai's my best friend.

[Should she leave it there? She's gonna leave it there.]

Oh. She's your senpai? That's so cool!

[Wow, Rise's eyes are sparkling even more now! And it's not even because she's reading more into that 'best friend' thing than Yukari meant! It's just... a TV actress and the head of the Kirijo group as besties. It must be so glamorous! (Rise pls, you do remember you're an idol, right? Sure, it's not as glamorous as it's built up to be, but... you should know that's true of other show business professions too.)]

And Labrys and her sister... everyone's safe now?

[Let's just forget about Rise being barely more than Nanako sized for the moment, she's too busy actually being happy to hear what's been going on in her world for once.]

[She's just... gonna keep going along with this conversation because the age difference is kind of weirding her out, but the conversation's at least somewhat familiar. Even if she isn't sure what to make of the look she's getting, aside from the fact she can feel tension seeping back into her shoulders. Sorry, conditioned response.] Yeah. We went to school together, and were in the same club. [... That's one way to put it.]

And, I think so? Last I knew that giant tower over your guys' school was falling apart, but I guess everyone got out just fine.

... Including me. [That's also very weird. Apparently she can exist in two places at once, but the less she thinks about that, the better.] So, yeah, I think it's all alright. You'd have to ask Labrys, though.

Wait, giant tower? ... Our school?

[Was this some kind of thing the Shadow Operatives and Labrys were doing? No... she would have heard about it if there was a giant tower over Yasogami. That is, unless it happened... after she was taken to Exsilium...

Now it's her turn to think the topic has gotten weird. Not too weird, she's far too used to this other worlds thing by now. But it's not something she's sure she wants to talk about at the moment. Fortunately, she has another thing to distract her.]

Is Labrys here...?

[Was Yukari expecting this much surprise? It's been two years since Rise last saw Labrys, so she wasn't expecting to ever see her again!]

Yeah. Oh, I guess that must've only happened the day I got called in to rescue Mitsuru-senpai and Akihiko-senpai and Aigis, then. Labrys had been out there in Inaba for a day or two before that, I think. [Rise thinks it's weird - how'd she like to find out about what used to happen to Gekkoukan and that the former SEES peeps thought they'd gotten rid of ~~by sacrificing their leader oops~~?]

And yeah, Labrys is here. I ran into her when I first got here. [She was eating a donut. Which is weird enough, but Yukari supposes that's... the nature of the... gem...

... There are a few too many things that could turn into an existential crisis in this place, so she'll hold it there.] I bet it'd be easy to track her down again. I guess [Captain Bowlcut... snrk.] Narukami-kun's here, too. And so is... Minato-kun. I'll take you never ran into any of 'em?

No... not yet. I don't even know what Minato-san looks like normally.

[Yes, this is a Rise that's met Minato. Perhaps not the weirdest part of this conversation, since Yukari met a Rise in Koriko and Minato was certainly there. But still, the weirdness keeps piling up, doesn't it?]

Normally...? [That's a different kind of weird. Like... Rise met Minato in a place where he'd changed his appearance somehow. At the moment, Yukari's not thinking about ponies - even if he told her about it. She's more trying to imagine him with a different haircut or something.]

He's like... this tall [She makes a motion a little taller than herself], blue hair, his bangs always cover his right eye. [He's really cute... has the kind of eye color that set a precedent for her for attractive eye colors, and usually with such a strangely intense look... always smells nice... oh wait, she's supposed to be over that.] Usually looks kinda bored? He keeps his hands in his pockets a lot. [She gives a little laugh, as she sticks her hands in her own pockets and hunches over the way Minato always stands, her expression melding into a sort of passively analytical look at Rise.] Like this.

[Rise was about to explain, but then Yukari launched into her impression, and-

... The younger girl quickly erupts into a tiny fit of giggles at that.]

Yeah! He even kinda looked like that as a pony!

[He didn't have any pockets or hands to put in them, but somehow he gave off the exact same impression.

Also thanks for breaking her, Yukari. She'll be giggling on and off for a while now.]

[Well that cuts the expression off into something surprised rather quickly.] ... Wait, you knew him when he was a horse... pony... whatever?

... How many of you guys are here? [Which is a question more to herself than to Rise, but it's still there.] Ugh, man, I feel like I missed a party or something.

[Maybe being a unicorn would've been better than being snubbed by one.]

Well, yeah. I was a unicorn there.

[She blinks, a little stunned at that other thing Yukari said.]

... How many do you know?

[Are there other people that were in Equestria here? People she knew?]

[Haha unicorn. Don't mind the tiniest disgusted face Yukari pulls at that. They have another topic to move on with, though, so she jumps on it and runs with it. 'Cuz she's not staying on the topic of unicorns. Nope.]

Uh, well, Minato-kun mentioned being one, and then I ran into a... bright colored horse a little while ago that said her name was Fluttershy and she was from the same place. Or something like it, I guess. But I think I've heard other people talk about it around, too. [Since guess who likes to listen in on gossip and there are a ton of transplants around from MLJ :D.]

Fluttershy-san's here? And she's still a pony?

[That's kind of surprising! Or... well, maybe not, since they're all gems now. She'd kind of assumed everyone was generally human-shaped, though.]

Have you seen-?

[She starts to ask, but suddenly halts, looking saddened by something.]

Er... I guess I don't know what any of them look like anymore...

[Fluttershy was always a pony, at least most of the Fluttershys were. Most of the rest of her friends weren't, so they probably look different in this place. Like Minato.]

She seemed to have been here a while, so maybe she figured out how to be one? [... Or they were just up and letting horses wander around...

... Ugh, she shouldn't think like that. She's thinking of something that can talk too much like Koromaru.]

... Oh, cuz they're not horses anymore? [Ponies. Whatever. Logical conclusion either way.] I mean, unless I've learned their names, I dunno if I can help out much. Sorry... [Rise can remember their names, at least.]

[Interesting. Rise wonders if she could figure out how to be a pony again? ... She wouldn't want to be stuck that way again, but it might be fun for an hour or so to hang out with Fluttershy or any other ponies that might be around.

But for now, the idea of names takes root, and she immediately tries to remember the most important ones.]

Well... there's Naomi-san, Cadence-san... oh, Oneechan's name is Nephenee! And Kyouko-san... Cirno...

[Those are all the names that immediately pop to mind besides her Investigation Team friends.]

Do you know Teddie, Yu-senpai and Yukiko-senpai too?

[The first set of names gains a bit of a thoughtful frown] ... Uhhh can't say I know those people...

[But the second set makes her perk up a bit.] But those guys are your friends from back home, right? Yeah, we ran into all those guys when we were out there in Inaba... a-after Mitsuru-senpai and Akihiko-senpai and Aigis got captured. [Actually, it was Teddie that ended up helping her find the school. Among other things.]

[She's kind of disappointed to hear Yukari say she doesn't know any of the people Rise knew from Equestria. But when it came to her friends from home...]

Yeah, that's them! We all lived together in Equestria too! Me and Teddie and Yukiko-senpai and Yu-senpai, I mean. Kanji and Naoto-kun lived in the Commune, and Chie-senpai moved around a bit.

[As she's talking, she realizes Yukari never said anything about them being here.]

So... you'd know if any of them were here, right? Besides Yu-senpai and Labrys...?

Well... Labrys did say something about Satonaka-san, but I don't think she's here anymore. So the only people I know of that are here from our world... it's you and me, Narukami-kun, Minato-kun, and Labrys.

[Oh... she kind of sees where the sad tone comes from out of Rise at least. Having so many of her friends around and then coming in to a new place without them... Actually, Yukari can kind of sympathize, considering how many others from her team were in Koriko before. Now she's with some of her more... 'new' friends and the one guy she didn't really want to be stuck with. Ugh. Oh well.]

I haven't heard of anyone else here. Sorry...

B - on a scale of 1 to 10 how terrible am I as a person?
