TEST DRIVE - Part 3

Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.

Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

How this works:

☆ This is a test drive for [community profile] cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.

☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.

☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.

☆ This post will remain open until it begins to approach 5000 comments! Then a new test-drive post will be made.

☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.

☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.

YOUR OPTIONS:

☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!

☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.

☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.

☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.

You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.

[2] Ooo neat! What's he from?

[She does give a little start when she sees him and instinctively her hand twitches toward the pistol on her hip, but she doesn't grab it and instead beams brightly in the sweetest most sincere smile a teenage girl can manage]

Well of course he's not LITERALLY a death trap. He's just a deadly killing machine I can summon to do my bidding! Not really a trap at all unless I position him in such a way...like I guess if he cornered someone, or came bursting through a wall...
islistening: (*IT'S RAINING SOMEWHERE ELSE)

Undertale! ...he's more of an easter egg than a walking spoiler, but...

ANOTHER WEAPON? YOU SEEM TO HAVE PLENTY ALREADY, ALTHOUGH IF THIS MACHINE WAS A COMPANION TO YOU I CAN CERTAINLY SEE WHY YOU'D WANT HIM BACK.

[He gives her a smile in return, though it's a bit uncertain. What a dangerous sounding human this is... hopefully she's only planning to use that firepower on the corrupted gems.]

AH, BUT WHERE ARE MY MANNERS. I AM DR. W. D. GASTER, A SCIENTIST IN MY HOMEWORLD.

PLEASE FORGIVE MY WARINESS; MY PEOPLE HAVE A... TROUBLED HISTORY WITH HUMANS, WHERE I'M FROM. I WAS MERELY INTRIGUED TO SEE SOMEONE WITH AN APPARENT AFFINITY FOR TINKERING.

Groovy!

[personal profile] 2hellwiththe1stlaw 2015-11-14 01:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Well she only intends to use it on corrupted gems, but she's a bit of a hair trigger]

Nice to meet you! I'm Gaige! Mechromancer and epic level engineer!

[And so modest]

What's the trouble with humans back home? I mean...humans can be pretty shitty on the whole but...

A PLEASURE, MISS GAIGE.

[He gives a short bow, which only seems to emphasize the eerieness of his form - he gives the impression of wearing a long, dark coat, certainly, but past his head, shoulders, and hands, it's very difficult to make out any detail on him at all. Only darkness, shaped vaguely like a man.]

WELL, TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, HUMANS WON THE WAR BETWEEN THEM AND US MONSTERS, AND SEALED US UNDERGROUND FOR GENERATIONS. HUMANS ARE... MUCH STRONGER, YOU SEE, CAPABLE OF THINGS THAT ARE FAR BEYOND THE CAPACITY OF A MONSTER.

FOR THIS REASON, I AM QUITE GLAD THESE GEMS HAVE PUT US ALL ON THE SAME LEVEL IN THIS... UNIQUE SITUATION. AS YOU'VE POINTED OUT, HUMANS CAN INDEED BE MUCH CRUELER AS WELL.

[There's an odd heaviness to those last words - the kind you only get from someone who knows from far too much experience that they're speaking truth. Or perhaps only the barest understatement of the truth.]

[She grins as he talks, she can't help it. He really has a way of speaking with gusto.]

Well, where I come from humans and monsters can be hard to tell apart most the time. I've done some pretty monstrous things myself.

[She gestured to her wagon full of parts.]

Hence...Deathtrap. I need him if I'm gonna operate at peak efficiency.

I mean...I get it, it's great we all start on the same level. Gotta make it a fair game but I was SOOOO leveled up back home. Deathtrap and I were the best of the best. Now I feel like I can barely lift some of these guns.

[All the more reason for her to keep them handy]
