TEST DRIVE - Part 3
Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.
How this works:
☆ This is a test drive for
cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.
☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.
☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.
☆ This post will remain open until it begins to approach 5000 comments! Then a new test-drive post will be made.
☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.
☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.
YOUR OPTIONS:
☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!
☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.
☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.
☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.
You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

Ok, Amethyst. Real dirt, you and me. How do you get to run this place? I can deal with all of the jewel-anime-transformation girl crap as well as the next, but what are the perks?
no subject
No one really runs the place except that jerk.
[She points to the crystal heart gem]
It keeps us from leaving town and sometimes tells us what to do if it wants something. And if we do it we get more powers.
As for perks...
[She looks thoughtful]
Well you get your own room that can look like whatever you imagine...more or less. And it's harder for you to die now that you're not a normal human...no school I guess? I dunno I've never been to school but kids on TV seem to hate it.
no subject
Yup. Definitely like real life.
Oh, what?! You seriously can't even leave this stupid town? How has no one, you know, not exploded everything, blown up the borders, DEMANDED an answer? Does this place and powers make people forget?!
[Yeah, Louise is not going to stand for this].
OK, well that's a relief. I was not about to be happy about being one of those Alan Moore deals. The last thing I need is that gritty realism, its real enough!
Oh, school. Yeah, right. I was really concerned about missing classes when I have SUPER POWERS.
no subject
Hey dude, you don't wanna listen to the big rock you don't have to. I'm just tellin' ya how it is.
You can leave town whenever ya want but something makes everyone come back. Most people don't get more then a day or two out of town before they walk back, and there's nothin' out there for miles. Once you get going you just feel like you have to come back.
no subject
And nobody has a problem with that? I'm getting some serious brain washing vibes here.
Wait, can that happen to me? Is this thing in MY HEAD?! IS IT?!
no subject
Oh no, most of us have a problem with it. We just don't know what to do about it.
I don't think it's in your head...I think it's in your gem.
[She taps her own gem]
Your body is just a creation of your gem now. So your brain and stuff is actually in your gem too.
no subject
That's even worse! No one even asks for this gem, and it programs a fail safe? That is messed up!
Wait, what? I don't follow. How is your brain and your body functions in a gem? I barely get the way my body works and it still makes no sense.
no subject
OK so, I'm not the best person to explain it but basically, you know about souls right? Humans believe in souls where I come from.
Basically your soul is in your gem. And your body is just something the gem creates.
So if you get hurt too badly, your body goes POOF and you retreat inside your gem to heal.
As long as you don't crack or smash your gem you'll just keep coming back.
no subject
[Yeah, Louise is an opportunist].
What? Ok, that's weird and really screwed up, yet cool at the same time. I might need to process that.
Nah, nevermind, its cool! I don't care about the scientific and moral implications!
no subject
[ Amethyst is not one to object to such behavior. She bursts out loud with laughter at that last part]
Well then you should fit in just fine around here kid.
no subject
[Oh yeah. No parents, people who needed excitement. She could definitely do something with THIS].
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Just play off the little kid thing and I should be fine, right?
no subject
Sheesh you're advanced! Well we already got fighting. It happens once a month at the town storage warehouse. A bunch of us get together and wrestle for fun. The rest of it would probably work though.
[She didn't know how one exactly set up those enterprises but she was keen to find out what it was like to play]
no subject
[Louise would get rich yet: it was just a matter of figure out how to use what they were already giving for free and turn a profit].
Hey, whose the strongest around here anyway?
no subject
[ She has to consider this because as much fun as boasting is, there are a lot of gems]
Probably me.
[Well that didn't take long]
no subject
Can you prove it?
no subject
[She shrugs and shifts her form once more into THE PURPLE PUMA before lifting Louise up and throwing her into the air, so high she almost touches the stalactites on the ceiling before falling back down to be caught]
no subject
[There's little more to say as the little girl was flung high in the air and fell down, down, and was caught by the Purple Puma herself, her eyes wide].
HELL yeah! Ok! My bad, MAN you are strong! I could have totally died!
[This makes her excited for some reason. Louise is weird].
no subject
Of course it all depends on what you want. Some gems are stronger without magic, some gems are faster. We used to have this really puffy gem but she's gone.
[Her voice catches a bit but she moves on]
So plenty of muscle, but I'm probably the best.
no subject
So you guys have all these different kinds of powers? Neat! I hope I can levitate.
Puffy? What, she have an allergic reaction? A...an asthmatic gem?
Cool, so no one else can do what you do?
no subject
Puffy? No no I said buff she-gem. She had biceps as thick as my head.
Well some people can shape shift, but I've been doing it longer. And I don't know anyone else with a whip.
no subject
Buff? Ok, that's different. Buffy is kinda cool, provided you're not, you know, all gym bunny mode or anything.
That's cool, that's cool. A whip huh? Better not let anyone crack any sex jokes, am I right?
no subject
[She draws out her whip and spins it around before swinging at the ceiling to slice a stalactite down and let it fall crashing to the ground. behind her.]
no subject
Now you're just showing off.
no subject
[The whip is gone in a flash of light]
Alright, let's go introduce you to the people you'll be tricking out of their hard earned money...actually lets go get you some money. All newbies get a little cash because everyone with jobs have been donating a little bit to make sure you're not broke.
no subject
[She says, having no powers yet, like she should be talking].
All right!I'd say I don't take handouts...but you'd know I was lying.
