TEST DRIVE - Part 3

Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.

Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

How this works:

☆ This is a test drive for cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.

☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.

☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.

☆ This post will remain open until it begins to approach 5000 comments! Then a new test-drive post will be made.

☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.

☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.


YOUR OPTIONS:

☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!

☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.

☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.

☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.

You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.

[There's that grin again.]

When's the last time you had a gorgeous beach for a backyard?

[She turns, starting to head towards the main door out.]

I'll show you the quick way out.

Well to be fair, the forest around Beacon is pretty nice. [As she follows Yang, she glances back towards the temple corridors.] How bad is the long way?

[She jokingly scoffs at that.]

Sure, if you don't mind the killer wildlife.

[She's kinda curious as to how Pyrrha will react to just how exposed this town is to the surrounding wilderness compared to places back on Remnant. All in good time though, as she stops in front of the large main door.]

Boring. And confusing. Like worse than trying to find your way around Beacon on the first week.

[At least Beacon's hallways and stair cases don't seem to change...??]

I think Weiss got lost in here once. Besides, you can just use your Gem to get in and out of the Temple anyway.

[As if to demonstrate, there's a warm glow just visible from under her shirt, an answering fiery light burning it's way along the doors edges before it opens, revealing a short corridor with bright sunshine and the sounds of the ocean beyond.]

[Pyrrha watches on curiously, following the light that runs along the door frame. When it opens, she blinks a bit, the light of the sun a bit of a contrast to the corridors of the temple. But when her eyes adjust and sees the beach, they widen a bit.] Oh wow...!

I know, right?

[Yang can't help but smile, enjoying the sight herself. She may not always like being stuck here without a choice, but it's hard not to like the beachfront property.]

[aura_spear]

It's incredible...!

[She'd seen the ocean before, but never like this.

As she takes a step outside, she glances back towards the temple.]

It seems a lot bigger on the inside...

[One side of her smile quirks up again.]

Oh, it's way bigger on the inside.

[Other things she does not question.]

The town's a little further down the beach but it's easy enough to walk to.

Hmm...I can see how it would be easy to get lost in there. [Glancing at the beach once more, she then turns towards the town.] How is it?

[nailed_it]

Way smaller than Vale.

It's kinda cute though. There's a boardwalk and a bunch of shops and stuff. Oh, and this little amusement park.

The locals here're kinda wary about everyone living in the Temple and all the gem stuff, but they're okay.

[She has a sneaking suspicion it's because a decent amount of the locals are kinda terrified of the gems and their powers but...]

Hmm...I could imagine they would be. It must seem strange for so many people with grand abilities to be brought in like this.

[She shrugs, affably enough.]

Could be worse. 'Least it doesn't stop most of them from doing business with us or hiring us.

And the Mayor here's been pretty cool about us since we stopped this one Gem Monster.

[Again, that could probably still be because he's actually scared of most of them but eh...]

There is that, at least. I wonder how many of them realize we aren't exactly here by choice. Oh? What happened with that particular Gem Monster?

[Another shrug and then she rolls her eyes although it's not at Pyrrha's question.]

Ugh, it was a mess. Tons of these gross looking rat things were running around, stealing stuff and making people sick. We figured out they had an Alpha controlling them from a nest underneath the town itself but she blocked our powers somehow before we could reach her.

She blocked your powers?

[That was a bit alarming.]

what happened then?

[nailed_it]

We had to re-group for a bit. Some of us still had weapons we could fight with but not everyone. And we had to be careful now that the people with healing powers couldn't use them.

Thankfully, whatever the lead rat monster did wasn't permanent. It wore off in time for most of us to break into her nest and defeat her.

[She'll leave out the part about the Mole Queen totally exploding in her death throes because that was gross and there are days where Yang can still smell that nest, Dust was that ever disgusting.]

[aura_spear]

[She nodded a bit.] I see...Well, I'm glad everyone got through that all right. [She kind of wished she had been around to help.]

[nailed_it]

[Her usual smile returns.]

Yeah, everything worked out fine. Most of the monsters here are pushovers compared to the stuff we usually fight.

[Because one totally didn't kill her sister a few months ago, haha...hah...

...Anyway.]

You hungry? We can grab a bite in town. My treat.

[aura_spear]

[She manages a small smile.] You don't have to do that. [But she's not dismissing the offer either.]

[nailed_it]

I know. But I will anyway.

[She grins affably. Consider it squaring away a future lunch debt.]

Besides our lien's no good here.

[aura_spear]

Hmm...I suppose that means I will have to find a way to earn money for myself. Especially if I'm going to return the favor. [Because she totally will, Yang.]

[nailed_it]

[Hey, if we count the festival noodles, Pyrrha technically already has.

Yang waves a hand unconcerned, smiling warmly.]

Sounds good to me.

Don't sweat it too much though. We have a fund going for new arrivals so you've got time to get comfy before you have to worry about stuff like a jobs.

[aura_spear]

Oh? Well, that's good to know. [Though she didn't want to take too much from that. Besides, having her own job would help her contribute to this fund.]

[nailed_it]

Yeah, a friend of mine started it.

[There's the briefest slip of her cheerfulness as if she's remembering something else, before it's back full-force.]

Not sure who's in charge of it now but it shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

[aura_spear]

[She couldn't help frowning, catching something in particular about Yang's words.]

Why isn't your friend still in charge of it, if they were the ones to start it?

[There's a brief stretch of silence, as if Yang's thinking over her answer, and then she shrugs.]

I haven't seen him around lately.
