TEST DRIVE - Part 3
Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.
How this works:
☆ This is a test drive for
cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.
☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.
☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.
☆ This post will remain open until it begins to approach 5000 comments! Then a new test-drive post will be made.
☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.
☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.
YOUR OPTIONS:
☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!
☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.
☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.
☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.
You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

[ And, as if to demonstrate, because her instructions are oh-so-complex, she takes the few steps towards the crystal and puts her hands on it, looking to him expectantly, like he should join her. ]
Trust me, just this once! Do I look like I'm trying to troll you?
[ In fact, she probably does. ]
no subject
[He's glowering. From his floor sprawl. He finally rolls over and stands up.]
I'm not touching the dumb rock, Feferi. Just because you're fine when you touch it doesn't mean it's not going to--I don't know--open up and swallow my hands for the presumption, for all I know.
no subject
[ She could just explain it all herself. It's not like it would be hard to just repeat what she now understood herself. But there's just something so cool about it that she wants him to experience it, so she continues to stare at him expectantly, though she takes her hands back herself. Her fins relax a little, calming down from her initial excitement. ]
I promise. I haven't seen you in a really long time. I am not about to let you get hurt or have your hands stolen or whatever, not right now.
(1/3)
FF steals handsshe's lying or not. But he did miss her. If he does get his hands lost, he can always freak out on her and, like, wave the stumps around or something.][It sounds pretty stupid when he thinks of it that way.]
Ugh, fine, I'll touch the glowing bloodpusher rock. Are you happy?
(2/3)
Oh.
[His gaze goes distant for a moment. Knowledge slips in smooth and easy, taking up a spot in his mind like it was made for it. His hands lift away.]
(3/3)
I never signed up to become a stupid rock!
no subject
[ It was the end of the road for her, really, so she can't be too fussed. Having nothing but an eternity of dream bubbles in front of her wasn't so bad, but if she could be living some kind of life, even if it meant being a rock? She would take it. ]
I don't know about you, but I like being a rock a lot more than I like being a ghost. You get used to it after a while!
no subject
[Not dead. Not ghosts. He tries to keep the look there, but it falters, and fuck, fuck, he really did--he really did die. He palms at his chest again, over the two neat cuts through his sign.]
But what about the others? They--I was supposed to help them, Feferi. How do I do that here?
no subject
I don't know. I have only been here fifteen minutes or so myself! Maybe we can find a way to help them together? But I don't think freaking out will really do anyone much good!
no subject
[Freaking out is his specialty, Feferi. He frowns at her hard, but the brunt behind it is a whole heap of emotions he didn't have time to deal with before showing up here and running into her. His fingers poke at his gem again, feeling the strange, faceted surface.]
... Okay. Okay, we can do this. We'll find something.
[He might be saying it more to himself.]
Come on, we need to go look around and take stock of this place. There might be more of us here, and if there are we have to find out who and how long they've been around.
no subject
[ She's not trying to patronize him. It's just the most obvious course of action. ]
The door should let us out, but you probably know that! I didn't actually explore that far, I kind of wanted to hang out and see if anyone else showed up. And... well, you did!
[ Of course, now that he's touched the gem, she's all about explaining. ]
no subject
Keep your speech flaps off my ass, Peixes. I'm your leader because I was the only jackass stubborn enough to wrangle you all into listening.
[He heads for the door anyway, and much as the knowledge the Heart imparted tells him it would, it reacts to his gem and opens onto the little cave leading outside.]
So did anything important happen while you were dead? Or just the usual endless trawl through teen drama memory hell?
no subject
Oh, well. Nepeta and I were a sprite for a while, that was kind of weird? And I got to see Eridan and Sollux again! Sort of. I think we all kind of decided to put everything behind us? [ She doesn't sound entirely sure; she moves on quickly, eager to tell Karkat all about her after-death experiences. ] Oh, and then after we were done being a sprite, we joined Vriska's pirate crew and Aradia and Sollux were there too! And so was Tavros. Then Aradia scared one of the humans, and then Tavros, Nepeta, Sollux, and I all left, and that's kind of what we were in the process of doing before I wound up here!
[ She stops her enthusiastic exposition and looks at Karkat as they walk, thoughtful for a moment. ]
You don't think I just... disappeared there, before I wound up here, do you? I did not even think about that before!
no subject
[That part's easier to address than all the rest, and it's the first thing to stand out to him, so much so that he stops his walking just to ask about it.]
no subject
[ She stops alongside him, bouncing on the balls of her feet, looking at him curiously but then shrugging. ]
I guess we just got a little overwhelmed and... split up! So after that we were just ghosts again. It's kind of hard to explain!
