TEST DRIVE - Part 3

Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.

Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

How this works:

☆ This is a test drive for [community profile] cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.

☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.

☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.

☆ This post will remain open until it begins to approach 5000 comments! Then a new test-drive post will be made.

☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.

☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.

YOUR OPTIONS:

☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!

☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.

☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.

☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.

You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.

They weren't related to the Randomizer or anything like that. It was mostly Napoleon dealing with them directly, but since they took Teala, I had to be in there on another side, too. But they were threatening the world's stability, too, trying to open up a void to where the Voices come in from. Oh, the Voices are a mob of thousands or tens of thousands of minds that act as a hive mind directing one host at a time. They're not as bad as they sound anymore, but sometimes they kind of suck at their job.
waxinglight: (no really what)

[well that sounds utterly nightmarish.]

So you were controlled by those voices? Do they still bother you now?

[she can't imagine sharing your head with so many voices at once...]
domeinion: Alice listening to music. (this is great)

[personal profile] domeinion 2015-12-26 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I was a host once, actually. They're not in my head anymore, but there are a few vestigial habits we all have, so you won't B+RIGHT the way they found you. Mostly walking into walls, a few speech things. You get used to the patterns and they never quite leave. How did you know I'd been one?
waxinglight: (distraught)

[personal profile] waxinglight 2015-12-26 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
The way you speak of them is in depth - I assumed it was personal experience, I'm not sure how I feel about it being right. It must be terrible to feel like a puppet...

I suppose it would be awful the way it used to be. An old friend of mine from when we were kids... he doesn't talk much, and he always looks haunted. But it was him and his journey that started to change things. By the time I came along, the mob was more -- well, they're always chaotic, and having the god of order on my side might have balanced a little out. But they didn't care about their hosts before, just whether they could complete their objectives. With me or Camila or Napoleon or any of the newer hosts we've found, their well-being mattered as much as their destiny. They let Abe sleep a lot, actually.

...It's also a little hard to be afraid of an ancient eldritch legion that sings inappropriate campfire songs and keeps walking you into walls because they don't know where they're going.

[okay she...kind of can't help laughing at that last part, sorry.]

They sound like a rather colorful cast of individuals. How are hosts chosen? It it random due to the nature of the ah, Randomizer?

[this is the weirdest conversation she's been a part of, but it's fascinating too.]
domeinion: Alice and A (chaos and order)

[personal profile] domeinion 2015-12-28 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
I have no idea, actually. It's not tied to the Randomizer -- we've shut that down twice now, and the Voices predate it. We know the hosts are all about to start some big journey when they're chosen, and when they're guided, they come across problems to fix in their region and usually become successful along the way. It's even possible for someone to call the Voices to themselves when they're about to choose someone else, and sometimes the Voices wanted a different host than what they got, so even they don't know what they're doing all the time.

I see. That sounds a bit frustrating...

[but still interesting!]

You mentioned something about a god of order, what is that?
domeinion: Alice surrounded by commands. (up down a start b right left)

[personal profile] domeinion 2015-12-28 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Lord Dome! He's my patron god. And sometimes he's a she, it depends on the time, since gods can really be whatever they want. The gem on my face is in the shape of the symbol of Dome, the rounded fossil!
waxinglight: (no really what)

[personal profile] waxinglight 2015-12-28 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
[man, that's way cooler than the moonstone she's got on her forehead.]

How did Lord Dome come about?

[gotta ask all the questions!!]
domeinion: Alice examining something. (ooh interesting)

[personal profile] domeinion 2015-12-28 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
All our gods are ancient. They've been around so long that they went to sleep and then were revived from fossils! The first one, though, who created the rest, was around even before that, and it's never been asleep as a fossil or anything like that. It's above the gods, and even the Voices, who come from another world and don't all follow the same god, follow it. We call it by a couple of names, but the most common is "Arceus, the Streamer." ...The Voices just call it "Streamer-senpai." I'm not sure why.
waxinglight: (a small smile)

[personal profile] waxinglight 2015-12-28 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
S-Streamer-senpai? That seems...

[weird as hell, what the heck.]

All of your gods seem interesting though. I've never dealt with anything quite like that.
domeinion: Alice kindly smiling and holding Swablee. (you'll be fine)

[personal profile] domeinion 2015-12-28 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
Really? What is it like in your world? I know you mentioned fairies, what are they like?
