TEST DRIVE - Part 3
Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.
How this works:
☆ This is a test drive for
cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.
☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.
☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.
☆ This post will remain open until it begins to approach 5000 comments! Then a new test-drive post will be made.
☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.
☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.
YOUR OPTIONS:
☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!
☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.
☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.
☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.
You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

But he had a VERY good track record.
As she drives the beast back he occasionally sends another attack to corral it back on course. The bolts are weak, more like a prod then a real attempt at damage.
He had to save his strength.
But even being herded, the creature keeps trying to attack, and Celes is the closer target- attempting to bite at her with is mandibles, or blow her back with it's wings]

[It was tough. Though she was capable, the monster was starting to get desperate and angry and she was getting injured because of it. Each time the mandible bit, her arms were getting nicked and bloody. Each wind buffet sent her back. And yet she held her ground. For every blow that it did to her, she returned it in kind. She even got a kick to its face right before the jaws snapped down on her waist.]
[Seeing the back-up helped immensely. Were she on her own, she'd know that she was being foolishly aggressive. She shouldn't be putting herself in danger like this. She just hoped that whatever power her partner was drawing on would be enough to end this, because she knew she wouldn't be much help if it didn't work.]
[Getting it close to the water line, her eyes narrow and she lets out a serious flurry of sword swipes, hoping to force it to land.]

The sky darkened, and circles appeared around the gem monster]
Thoron-!
[A huge bolt of lighting burst from his finger tips, arching into the sea. The water churned, bursting upwards as if a bomb had been dropped into the surf, the insect buzzing in more ways then one as it shuddered wildly, soon poofing into a large gemstone, which clattered onto the sand.
...only to be followed by a short rain of dead fish. Oops]
...maybe I went a little too far with that one.

[Celes was pretty sure she was ready for a lot of things, but an electrical bolt the power of a magitek cannon was not one of the things that she was prepared for. As soon as she saw the circles forming, she backed away in order to keep from getting zapped and it was still not enough. The burst and ensuing explosion of water was too much for her to account for. The girl's butt was flat on the surf as her eyes was transfixed as the bug was lifted upwards.]
[Her eyes kept at the bug as it poofed into a gem. Though she had never seen one like it, she recognized what it was instantly. That was one of the cracked gems at the temple. No sooner did she have that thought, however, did the remains of a dozen fish started plopping on top of her.]
[There was no words. Just the sourest of looks.]

I have you to thank for this, I'm not sure I would have been able to stop it on my own... oh.
[That sure is a fish on her head. He reaches out, gingerly picking it off and tossing it aside]
There we go... much better.

[She speaks without moving her teeth.]
Try. Again.

[He thinks for a moment, then shucks off his coat, draping it over her.]
It should soak up the water pretty well.
no subject
[O-oh...]
[She halts, reaching for the cape and tugging it over her arms. The coat felt... odd, and comforting at the same time. She had forgotten this feeling. Forgotten what it felt like to just be mad at somebody for something as ridiculous as getting doused in a seawater and fish offal. And yet, now she can?]
[Shivers ran down her arms as she played the moment through in her mind, with the coat draping on top. This. She missed this. She missed having people around to get mad at.]
[It was... nice.]
This thing smells awful. [But in spite of her words, the anger was quickly draining from her voice.]
no subject
I should think. Living in a camp of sweaty soldiers and dealing with the elements- It must smell like an entire stable of horses. And well, saltwater.
no subject
It would seem... you're well traveled in the company of a military.
[She started to move the coat over herself, trying to dry off as much as she could.]
A... battle mage? [She held her tongue on asking him whether he was a Magitek knight. Different worlds. Different roles. If he was, he'd correct her. Or not. Perhaps it wouldn't really matter anymore.]
no subject
[Or very dirty in the front lines, which was more often then not]
I can use a sword well enough, but I'll admit there's nothing quite like a spell to get things done.
no subject
You need to work on your footwork.
[She tossed the coat back at him. Think fast, Robin!]
