TEST DRIVE - Part 3
Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.
How this works:
☆ This is a test drive for
cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.
☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.
☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.
☆ This post will remain open until it begins to approach 5000 comments! Then a new test-drive post will be made.
☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.
☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.
YOUR OPTIONS:
☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!
☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.
☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.
☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.
You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

TUMBLR IS AN EVIL TEMPTER OF TERRIBLE
[Except, then he realizes he knows the voice so well. And he recognizes the person. The one person he never expected to see again. How long had it been? Only a few days ago, but it felt like an eternity. (Maybe it was, it could have been, and he knows he'd never fully recall.)]
[He's frozen on the spot, looking stricken, somewhere between all consuming despair, desperate hope, and the greatest relief. He had already been crying by the end, in his desperate bid to reach the Human, to change them, to get them to just stop all these bad things. (Maybe fix everything.) It hadn't been working, the Human wasn't hesitating, they weren't pulling back, and he had wondered how much of this had been the same for Sans. If Sans had been willing to do what Papyrus couldn't, but was afraid he'd have to.]
[If Sans had only fallen because he tried to do it Papyrus' way first and gave the Human a chance to get him.]
[But there was Sans. Alive. Sans was alive and the sob he'd been holding back for his fight escaped him.] S-sans? Is...is that....Sans? [He stumbles forward, reaching out for him. He had to know. He had to know if this was real.]
no subject
Papyrus.
[He rushes to meet him and clasps his hands around his bro's, bone against glove. He's so, so relieved, so happy to see him again. He's trembling. Everything he's been through. Everything he's seen, and even if Pap's from a different, awful timeline (he's not stupid despite what everyone believes), they'll make things right. Together.]
I thought... I thought...
[That you were dead forever. That your dust was still swirling in the snow.]
no subject
[He's real he's real he's real]
[It feels like everything just...collapses along with Papyrus as he falls to the knees because he doesn't have the strength to lift Sans right now, and he needs to give Sans a real hug.]
Sans...Sans! [It had been so hard. So hard trying to use words and support, to get the Human to see what they were doing wrong, that Sans just...just had to be a horrible, terrible mistake. They could be better. But they didn't and it hurt because that faith people could be good if they just tried was all he had to cling to with his brother gone.]
[But his brother was here, and it was like every scrap of determination he was using to keep going left him and he couldn't even care.]
You're here, Sans!
no subject
[He isn't alone anymore. There were few times Sans had broken down, few times he just couldn't be strong anymore. For himself or his brother. And this time he just sobs and lets the tears come, a broken damn of grief he'd been holding in for everyone. Nothing mattered anymore, he didn't care about pride or dignity or all that bullshit- all that mattered was that Papyrus was here. He was here and he was alive. Every bit of his resolved had crumbled. Sans is so relieved, so relieved to just see him, touch him, be able to embrace him again. It'd been so hard to be able to keep going, keep the jokes coming to tick off that human. Be witty. Be quick. Put on that smile.
Put on that smile.
Through his sobs, when he finally manages to speak again, it's broken between short gasps for air. He's still crying and trembling.]
I th-thought I'd never- [hic] see you again.
no subject
[But that was questions for later. It was hard enough for him to fully figure out as it was, and right now, all that mattered was he was hugging Sans. That it was Sans talking to him. It was Sans crying and he'd never been happier because it meant Sans was alive enough to cry.]
[And it's not like he was any better, a crying, shaking mess as he embraced his brother like he was never going to let him go again. He was certainly tempted. He could just carry Sans everywhere, couldn't he? Sans would love it, no more walking and he'd never lose his brother again!]
[A plus planning, really.]
I-I should be saying that! I thought I'd n-never complain about terrible jokes or drag you home from Grilby's or cook for you or hug you or tell you how much I appreciate your support or that I love you again!
no subject
No, [he breathes, some of the air whistling through his teeth.] Keep doin' what you're doin'. All I care about is you, pap.
[All Sans could ever want is here. Him. Papyrus was- is his world, and he couldn't give him up for anything. Right now, this is all that mattered- being with him again.]
no subject
[Well! He'll just have to fix that, won't he?]
I-I tried to do you proud, Sans. I was trying so hard, I d-don't even know how long, but I...
I missed you so much.
P-please, do not ever run off to fight someone without me again!
no subject
.....
[That just about confirms his suspicions of where Papyrus is from. All the better that it's them, together. And it'll stay that way. No gemming to speak of. If anything, it'll be Sans first. He,s never going to let he brother get killed on his watch ever again.]
I'm sorry.
[For all the words running through his head, for everything they've both been through, for every long and winding apology he could have spun, this just about does it. The heaviness in his tone in those few words make up for everything he could have ever possibly conveyed with big, yammering sentences.]
no subject
[He doesn't think he could even recall Sans sounding so serious. So...downtrodden. Then again, he's fairly sure his suspicions of Sans hiding his pain were correct. The fact something was showing was saying a great deal.]
[His hug tightens.] You're here. [And that was the most important thing. Everything else was secondary.]
no subject
[He can't stop crying. The weight of everything was too much to handle with a smile and some jokes. His grip tightened around Papyrus, content to just stay there in his arms the rest of the day.
He may or may not have fallen asleep.]
no subject
[He had to laugh. He really was such a lazybones, but....he realized he was also tired. Now that he stopped, everything was catching up.]
[A nap actually sounded really good. He moved them out of the way, and curled up with Sans in a corner snd let sleep take them.]
