TEST DRIVE - Part 3

Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.

Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

How this works:

☆ This is a test drive for [community profile] cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.

☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.

☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.

☆ This post will remain open until it begins to approach 5000 comments! Then a new test-drive post will be made.

☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.

☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.

YOUR OPTIONS:

☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!

☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.

☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.

☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.

You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.

This is the Gem Temple of Waverly Bay. You're currently standing in the Heart Chambers.

...You came through a hole, correct?
gribbley: (I can tell)

[Waverly Bay? Gem Temple?]

....... That is right.

*Nodding, she states:* That seems to be the Heart's preferred method of snaring others. I'm afraid you'll find that returning home won't be so simple...

You'll also find that a gemstone has been grafted somewhere on your body, much like this one... *She indicates the hexagon of ametrine in the middle of her forehead.* You'll want to locate that as soon as possible, for safety's sake.

[Oh, my. It seems entering the Temple has long-lasting magical effects for anyone drawn from their home, perhaps permenant. But before he attempts to locate his own gem, the mention of a gemstone on his person once again draws his nonexistant eyes up to the bubbled ones.]

......?

...Yes. All of those gemstones were once living beings. 'Natural' Gems, most likely. Those who were created as Gems, rather than transformed like ourselves.

*She pauses, considering how to word the rather... unpleasant news she has to deliver next.*

...As you can tell, those gems have been badly damaged. Not just cracked and broken, but 'corrupted'. That means they no longer have any control over their physical forms. If freed from those bubbles, they will regenerate back into mutated monsters and resume rampaging.
gribbley: (far from your arms)

[Well that certainly gives an incentive to protect one's gemstone no matter the cost. Even without a face, worry grows evident in the way his hands wring together, or how one thumb rubs against the base of the other in what could be taken as nervous habit.

He pats himself down briefly, first at the chest, the location of his core- and right away he finds it. It's an upside-down heart-shaped gemstone, and looking down, it seems to have both welded itself to his magma flesh and punched a perfect hole through his bartender clothes. A perfectly smooth fire agate.]

...I'm sure you've already determined this, but you'll want to protect that at all costs. If your physical form takes too much damage, you'll simply retreat back into your Gem to recover; however, if your Gem gets damaged, you'll start losing control.

...Fortunately, I've been told that we do have countermeasures. Apparently, while our healers cannot completely mend the corrupted stones, they can heal cracks and fractures we incur. Still, it's important to get those treated as quickly as possible, for obvious reasons.

[His hand presses more firmly onto the gem in his chest, as if some form of defense from an unseen threat in the room.]

....... Thank you for informing me of this.
velvet_mystique: (A little curtsey)

[personal profile] velvet_mystique 2016-01-14 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
Of course. It's important to be aware of such matters, is it not?
gribbley: (Everyone is leaving)

[personal profile] gribbley 2016-01-15 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
....... It is.

......... Given what you have told me so far........ i assume I am a good way from home.

[Unfortunate, really.]
velvet_mystique: (Daintily bobbing)

[personal profile] velvet_mystique 2016-01-15 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
...Yes. Strange as it may sound, it's very likely this isn't even the same universe as your own. The Heart appears to be capable of reaching into entirely different dimensions in order to snare us.
gribbley: (Everyone is leaving)

[personal profile] gribbley 2016-01-16 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
....................

........... strange.

[He obviously isn't much for words, but his mannerisms give away the gist of his thoughts or what he might say otherwise: crossed arms, back straight, legs at shoulder width and looking back at the scattered excess holes that led to nowhere as if they'd insulted him. He's very clearly displeased about being torn from his home and his business. His patrons will be worried.

Steam slowly billows out at a downwards angle from his face. He's sighing.]
velvet_mystique: (Neutral hovering)

[personal profile] velvet_mystique 2016-01-16 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed. Unfortunately, there's little we can do other than persevere.
gribbley: (Everyone is leaving)

[personal profile] gribbley 2016-01-17 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
.......... how many others?

[How many other people were taken from home, for better or worse? He can't imagine being among the first. Given how many gems are bubbled here, and in all these different colors, there's... quite a few of them.]
velvet_mystique: (Relaxing in the shade...)

[personal profile] velvet_mystique 2016-01-17 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
The number fluxes back and forth. I believe we're around... eighty strong right now, though. Though I'd hardly describe us as any sort of organized force. Particularly as I haven't personally witnessed any major incidents where we had to face some sort of threat that couldn't be conquered by just a handful working together.

...I've heard such incidents have occurred, of course. But it seems there's been a lull as of late.

*Meaning they're probably overdue.*
gribbley: (I can tell)

[personal profile] gribbley 2016-01-18 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
[Eighty, my. He'd expectied fortues or fifties, but eighty?.... How large were the catacombs? If... if this place was entirely underground? From what he remembers, bays are on the surface world.]

............... I see.

....... you said this is "Waverly Bay?"
velvet_mystique: (Daintily bobbing)

[personal profile] velvet_mystique 2016-01-18 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. At least, that's the name of the town nearby.
gribbley: (your sweet southern charms...)

[personal profile] gribbley 2016-01-19 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
Town........ nearby...

[It could be that the community was underground, much like Snowdin, but there was always the chance. It's a bay. Bays don't happen underground. Elation fills his chest- thousands of years it took, did he finally...]

We are............. on the surface?
velvet_mystique: (Lightly accessorizing)

[personal profile] velvet_mystique 2016-01-19 04:05 pm (UTC)(link)
*Nodding once, she replies:* Yes. I know it's hard to tell, since the Temple was built into the cliffs, but not everything's underground here.
gribbley: (your sweet southern charms...)

[personal profile] gribbley 2016-01-20 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[GOSH.]

........... may you... take me there........? I have not been above ground..... in quite a long time.
velvet_mystique: (Daintily bobbing)

[personal profile] velvet_mystique 2016-01-21 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
...Of course. Right this way.
gribbley: (Everyone is leaving)

[personal profile] gribbley 2016-01-22 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
[He follow her quite gladly, and when they actually make it outside, he has to shield his eyes. He isn't used to it being this bright, holy crap, there's light everywhere. Gosh, it's so strange to be in the sun's warmth again, but is he glad.]

............. oh my.
velvet_mystique: (Neutral hovering)

[personal profile] velvet_mystique 2016-01-22 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
...Is something wrong?
gribbley: (Everyone is leaving)

[personal profile] gribbley 2016-01-23 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
....... not at all. The air is wonderful.

[And whoa, that is an awfully large body of water. He walks forwards, if slightly awkwardly, not quite used to sand, and tries to just take it all in. He hasn't seen a beach in over several hundred years.]
