TEST DRIVE - Part 3
Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.
How this works:
☆ This is a test drive for
cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.
☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.
☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.
☆ This post will remain open until it begins to approach 5000 comments! Then a new test-drive post will be made.
☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.
☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.
YOUR OPTIONS:
☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!
☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.
☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.
☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.
You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

I realized suddenly last night that he might be appable here and I was like YES
He's heavy and rough in places from his time under the sea and, all in all, far too uncomfortable not to be real, and he hugs her back like she's home.
He is, at least.]
even if you couldn't I'm happy to see you on the test drive!
I can hardly believe it...after all this time and all that craziness, you just...showed up! And you can't not of come through the temple, right?
[She pulls back, tapping a finger lightly on his gem.] After all, you've got one of these.
I'm 85% of my way through an app, "couldn't" is no longer in my dictionary
He touches his own gem for a moment, a little unsure, still, what it really means for him to have one, then looks up at Jane, head tilted at a questioning angle. He taps his gem and then gestures at her. Does she have one, too?]
no subject
The pointing does get her attention though.] Gem...me...oh - yes, I have one! [She pulls down the collar of her shirt a little, just so Seb can see the gem resting in the center of her clavicle.] Everyone the Heart brings here gets one, even Dirk has...
[She trails off, realization sudden in her expression.] Dirk! He's here, too! Oh, Seb, he'll be very happy to see you - especially since it looks like your metal needs some attention...
no subject
Seb takes in all Jane's news with his usual impassive face--it's not really like he's got the features to change his expression--and then returns to snuggling up against Jane. Meeting up with Dirk would be all well and good, since he hasn't seen the guy in person, apart from their brief reunion on Derse, since Jane's thirteenth birthday. But we all know who the real gem is, here.
He really missed her.]
no subject
I missed you, too. I missed you heaps.
Do you...have any questions?
[About this place, about what's gone on with her, anything really. He's a clever rabbit and deserves a debriefing just as much as anyone else who's come here.]
no subject
It's a reasonably accurate, if childishly crude representation of what happened on Derse. There's Dirk's pointy head, there's a circle with Jane's glasses lying sideways, there's Seb hauling what must be Jake, if she squints, off over his head, and finally there's all the deadly red shit floating through the air.
Seb looks up at her, then back down and scrawls beneath it:]
?
then what
no subject
Oh...you want to know what happened on Derse. It's not exactly a simple story, and I couldn't tell you every minute detail, but...
[She shifts so she can be closer to the drawing, and points to herself.]
From what I do know, Roxy floated in after you left and tried to kiss me so I'd wake up in my body on Prospit. She couldn't do it, so Dirk did it. I woke up, went for the nearest transporalizer, and then suddenly I was swept up on Dirk's rocketboard, and he and Roxy were riding it - which was so strange, because they were just on Derse. We went into this funny pod and emerged out of it back in the present, on Earth, and landed at Jake's house, and for some reason he had to make out with Dirk's severed head while a volcano erupted in the background as it was being circled by a dragon.
[She pauses, letting all that crazy just sink in.]
And...then we got everyone into the game proper.
no subject
ok now?
no subject
Yes, I'm fine now. I haven't even gotten terribly hurt here, which is extraordinarily lucky.
no subject
HE'LL PROTECT YOU, JANE. He doesn't know where his sword is, but he will FIND one, and he will HAVE it, and it will be a SWORD and it will be SHARP and AWESOME.]
no subject
[She smiles despite herself. Yes, of course Dirk built him to do this, but...what a sweetheart you are Seb, really.]
Goodness, Sebastian! I have a weapon here, you know, I can fight. You don't just have to protect me. We could protect others together!
[He doesn't know how hard she's had to fight those five months after entering the game. And gosh but he doesn't know all the shenanigans that can happen in Waverly Bay - at least, not yet.]
no subject
But he shrugs, because if that's what Jane wants to do, then that's what Seb is going to do, too. And that's apparently all he needs to know, because he puts his stick down and goes to pick up her groceries again.
Where to, fearless leader?]
no subject
Jane follows suit a moment after, supposing that Seb will ask more questions when he has them.]
Ah, thank you...would you mind helping me bring these back to my room? Once they're away, I'm thinking a checkup might be a good idea for you. Unless you'd rather not have one yet?
no subject
Instead of darting off ahead, though, he sticks close to Jane's feet. Restless rabbit he may be, but. It's been a long time. It was lonesome at the bottom of the sea.]
no subject
Then...well, what would you like to do? See more of the temple? Take a look at the town? It's not like it was in Washington at all, but it is very nice.

how long here?
no subject
How long? Hm...[She glances up in thought, her brow crinkled.] I...think it was April when we came here, somewhere in mid-spring, but it felt like autumn...and we just had Christmas...I'd say this is my ninth month here.
no subject
He hastily scribbles another picture next to the question. A flattish cylinder, halved lengthwise with a wavy line, a short line sticking up from the top, a little--oh. That's a candle, isn't it? It's a cake. A birthday cake.
He puts a question mark next to it and looks up at her. Did he miss her birthday?]
no subject
Oh my gosh. Jane takes a moment to press a hand to her chest. She is very, very touched.]
Oh - it was my birthday back home, but it was turning out to be a rather shoddy affair, and then all this happened...I completely forgot about it!
[She didn't even have a party, Seb!]
no subject
He picks up her groceries again but manages to balance it in the crook of one arm. His other hand he lifts up to Jane, even if she might have to lean a little awkwardly to hold it while they walk along.
They are going to have a party. This is non-negotiable. Jane Crocker's birthday is The Most Important Thing.]
pffft omg
Seb? Is something wrong?
no subject
It's like, gosh, who even keeps these people's shit together when he's not around? Geez, kids.]
