TEST DRIVE - Part 3

Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.

Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

How this works:

☆ This is a test drive for cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.

☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.

☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.

☆ This post will remain open until it begins to approach 5000 comments! Then a new test-drive post will be made.

☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.

☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.


YOUR OPTIONS:

☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!

☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.

☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.

☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.

You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.

[Jane emerges from around a nearby corner, looking around until she spots this unfamiliar boy. Oh, my, the Heart's at it again, isn't it?]

Ah, over here! Are you alright?

Kidnapping aside? Yes, I'm doing all right. [He approaches her, looking her over. At least she seems to be in one piece.] Are you all right?

[Kidnapping? Well that IS one way to put it. And don't think she doesn't notice you checking her over, buster, though she's not sure what to make of it.]

Why yes, I'm fine - and I have been for as long as I've come here. You wouldn't have happened to come through a hole and ended up here, have you?

[It is perfectly platonic checking out of a superh-I mean, a totally nice guy, yep.]

I did. [Though, she's fine?] That's kind of a relief. So the Akuma is just annoying instead of violent.

You haven't heard anything about Ladybug or Chat Noir yet, have you? [Of course there'd be nothing of Chat Noir, but maybe Ladybug is already on the case.]

[No no she's not suspecting that, it just occurs to her that it's odd.

Jane shakes her head.] I haven't, no, but I can tell you right now that this isn't the work of...whatever an "akuma" is. It's the Heart Gem's doing. You didn't happen to see it, did you? It's kind of hard to miss.

Heart Gem? [That was...new. He supposed the Miraculous could be considered a kind of gem, but nothing had been called 'Heart'.]

Oh boy, I guess not. Here, would you like me to show you?

I would appreciate it.

I must say, you're handling this quite well, for someone whose not used to Akuma. [That's because it's been happening for months, Adrien.]

[cyan_maid]

That's because I'm fairly sure that whatever that might be, that's not the reason for it.

[But she just smiles and gestures for him to follow her. Luckily, the Heart's somehow close by, so it doesn't end up feeling like she's luring him into trouble or anything.]

There it is - you've just got to touch it, and you'll get an idea of what's going on.

The super villains that keep attacking Paris? Have you not heard about Ladybug and Chat Noir at all? [Well, there WERE other heroes in the world (according to word of god at least), but Paris was a popular city.]

That seems simple. [But he pauses. Because it sounds like magic and he knows you don't just mess with magic without thinking about it. He looks at her again, looking her over. Usually if there's a possession, there's some kind of sign.]

[She doesn't LOOK possessed...]

No, I haven't. But we're not in Paris.

[She hesitates to say "anymore", because it would be cliche and because...well, she doesn't know for sure IF this boy is from Paris.]

It'll feel strange, but it won't hurt, so it's safe. I promise.

Not Paris?

I'm more worried about the whole...possession thing that magic likes to do. I get caught up in those a lot. [Well, no, he didn't, but when you're famous, you keep that story straight.]

[Still, the girl SEEMS reasonable. And it was answers. And magic answers were quick.]

[Oh.]

[So, not Paris.]

I really don't know about magic...

[But...he gets caught up in it? What in the heck was going on in his Paris?

She'll watch as he does the Heart thing, worrying her bottom lip. He's bound to have more questions after, but for now, being filled in on the basics this way is the quickest.]

[Shenanigans, Jane. So many Shenanigans.]

This is either magic or sci fi. The fact it's transforming our soul into a rock screams magic.

[Why is this now a thing, what happened to Plagg, he was transformed, and then he wasn't, aaaaaah, is his kwami all right?!]

[Of course, while he's kind of freaked out because everything, he's....remarkably composed on the outside.]

If you insist. I find it easier to try and go along with it. There's too many questions that simply don't have answers at the moment.

[It's frustrating, but it's easier. Does that make sense?]

Which sounds even more like magic. [There is a bit of a....put upon expression creeping in. He loves being Chat Noir, truly, but magic is so crazy sometimes.]

And what is this about a rock for a body anyway. Where...is...it...? [He had raised his right hand in a questioning gesture and actually sees his palm now.]

[Correction, put upon expression is on in full force.]

I don't know what I expected. [He's judging the cat's eye on his hand.]

A gem - ah, yes, there you go. You're going to want to keep that safe and not let it be damaged or cracked, or you're not going to have a very good time of things.

[He almost laughs. He really, really wants to laugh. Yes, yes, keep the thing on the hand where his destroy everything power comes from safe from harm.]

I don't know if I love it's sense of humor or absolutely hate it.

Aside from the ring, most accessories on this hand end up getting wrecked in one way or another. [He shrugged. It was close enough to the truth.]

Oh. [She blinks. Guess he must be pretty accident-prone.]

Ah, no, no, in Paris, we're used to strange circumstances. The other week, I got kidnapped by a horror movie monster and put into a slime cocoon.

But it's always nice to meet charming, sensible young ladies.

Ah - really, now? You promise you're not pulling my leg? The Paris I'm used to has nothing of the sort going on, and at the very least something like that would make the news.
