TEST DRIVE

Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.

Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

How this works:

☆ This is a test drive for [community profile] cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.

☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.

☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.

☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.

☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.

YOUR OPTIONS:

☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!

☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.

☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.

☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.

You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.

Corrupt gems are NOT like Coyotes. Coyotes travel in packs and are animals, they have rules. Corrupt gems cause destruction everywhere and break things and hurt people. If these people accept the existence of gems here without hating them, they're probably scared and glad we'll be fighting for them.

It would be a good idea to find out how recent this war was, and if there were any bad gems still lurking around. I wonder if they have any decent IT guys around here.

[There are more important things to worry about. Her schedule is at stake.]

Huh?

[She looks over, briefly interrupted from her grievances.]

What are you talking about? It's just a big jewel.

[She punctuates that statement with a frown at the gem.]
connie_maheswaran: (Troubled)

[personal profile] connie_maheswaran 2015-03-25 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
No, its a GEM, and that means something. Aren't you even curious about the one you have right now?

Have you even tried touching it yet?
alittlemystery: (Sigh.)

[personal profile] alittlemystery 2015-03-25 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
What if IT can't fix the problem?

If there was a big war the entire infrastructure for that kind of stuff could be down all over the world.

If dad was here he could at least try. I told him to teach me that stuff...
connie_maheswaran: (This is a puzzler)

[personal profile] connie_maheswaran 2015-03-25 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
If it was that bad, wouldn't the town be in a far worse situation than this? I mean, people would be at home, panicking, or scared at the sight of us? Actually, why would it choose a place like this, so removed from, well, well populated cities, where there's more chance people could get hurt?

Ugh, I don't even want to think about how bad it might be.

Is your dad a cable repairman?

[ anna's reaction is a bit off-putting - darcy feels pity for her, she probably should have mentioned the dilemma sooner. it's just so normal to her that she always forgets to mention it! she waves away the other's apology. pish posh, her face practically screams.

she's more than glad to see anna making a resilient recovery in the end and smiles back for real this time, though the real smile pretty much looks the same as the ones before it, plus a blush. ]

You mean this thing? [She holds up her left arm, rolling her sleeve back to show the star-shaped lemon quartz stone embedded there.] Actually, I kind of like it.

And, yeah, I touched it. That's why I'm trying to get it to send me back home! I have things to do!

[She already rearranged the whole thing to fit in being a magical girl. This whole thing is just a big hassle.]
alittlemystery: (How encouraging.)

[personal profile] alittlemystery 2015-03-25 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
You can only survive in Constant Terror state for so long before you have to calm down and deal with it. And for all we know every town has its own weird gem temple. Or maybe all the remaining populations are this small...ugh...

No, he does a lot of computer stuff for work though and is always able to fix it at our house.

Old Man McGucket would be able to do it even better probably but that guy has been through enough already. He's a little ah.

I don't actually have words.
connie_maheswaran: (Bubble buddies look)

[personal profile] connie_maheswaran 2015-03-25 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, that thing. Didn't you question it? Obviously you know you can't get it out.

It's not going to do that. You haven't seen it do that for anyone else, right?

[A little bit of reasoning is all she asks, really].
connie_maheswaran: (Wary)

[personal profile] connie_maheswaran 2015-03-25 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
Wouldn't they at least have told us more than what we can guess by now? If they expect us to fight for them, they'd have figured out we're all new to what we're doing. They'd be pretty much obligated to give us answers, don't you think?

[It would make SENSE to, anyway, though none of this seemed to right at the moment anyway].

Oh, right. I'm sure that comes in handy.

Sounds like the word you're looking for, to be polite, is off.

[Seeing that Lightning was situated there, she moved out from behind the other side of the crystal. She, unlike Lightning, had a crystal gem, an emerald attached right to the middle of her forehead.]

Saviour.

[Yeul did not know how else to make her appearance known, Caius usually did that.]
twinkletwinklesuperstar: (pic#8965687)

[personal profile] twinkletwinklesuperstar 2015-03-25 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
Did anybody else try asking it?

[This is reasoning.]

[personal profile] connie_maheswaran 2015-03-25 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Wouldn't that be the first thing people would do?

[Matched with a withering stare].
rosecrystarium: (I'll do it)

[personal profile] rosecrystarium 2015-03-25 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
[Lightning looks over at the young girl, and for just a brief moment, she's caught off guard. Coming here was confusing enough, but Yeul being here? Her guard is up now as she scans the room quickly for Caius. She would feel if he was here, right?

Her eyes lock onto Yeul once she realized that she didn't have her guardian with her.]

Yeul. So you're here as well.
twinkletwinklesuperstar: (pic#8965680)

[personal profile] twinkletwinklesuperstar 2015-03-25 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
So, you tried asking it and it didn't work?

[Not so much a withering stare, but a completely unperturbed one.]
connie_maheswaran: (Angry)

[personal profile] connie_maheswaran 2015-03-25 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
No, but even if it didn't send me back, my next step wouldn't be to kick it! Obviously it a sentient gem!
twinkletwinklesuperstar: (pic#8965727)

[personal profile] twinkletwinklesuperstar 2015-03-25 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
[Hmph. Well, she didn't really think of it as a living thing. Maybe she did go too far.]

Okay, okay.

[She folds her arms with a small huff, looking at the gem sidelong.]

I'm sorry I kicked you, giant... gem. Now can I go home, please?

[A second of nothing passes.]

Hey! I said I was sorry!

Cosmo the Spacedog | Guardians of the Galaxy (Marvel 616) | OTA

[personal profile] lunarrover 2015-03-25 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
[Is... Is that hole in the wall dog-shaped?

Why, yes. Yes it is. Any character at the temple's Heart at the time of this hole's appearance will see an aging brown dog emerge from it, wearing what appears to be a doggy-sized spacesuit covered in russian lettering.

Cosmo blinks, his eyes adjusting to the light of the temple after having become accustomed to the darkness of the tunnel. He lets out a quiet, confused whine as he sees and smells his new surroundings for the first time. This definitely isn't anywhere on Knowhere.

His whine transforms into a growl as he realizes what must have just happened: He was taken, lured to this place for some reason. And judging by how weak his telepathic abilities suddenly feel, Cosmo seriously doubts that the it's a good reason.

His eyes begin to glow, and his lips curl into a snarl, revealing a luminescent green gem that's replaced one of his upper canines, unbeknownst to him. With all the ferocity and mental strengthhe can muster, Cosmo the Spacedog sends out a telepathing message to anyone and everyone within range of his weakened mental abilities:
]

<This is Chief of Security Cosmo speaking. What is meaning of this? Where is Cosmo?>

[Cosmo's years of experience communicating telepathically are a godsend right now. His underlying feelings of fear and worry are barely perceptible at all through his mental message.]

<Cosmo demands answers.>

connie_maheswaran: (Hmm)

[personal profile] connie_maheswaran 2015-03-25 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think that's going to work.

[She sighed.] So many people were brought here, probably for a reason.

It even put ME here, and I know a little bit about gems.
twinkletwinklesuperstar: (pic#8965695)

[personal profile] twinkletwinklesuperstar 2015-03-25 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
Hmph!

[And she turns away from the big gem in a way that makes it clear that it has been dismissed. Dumb rock.

Still, something this girl says catches her attention.]

You mean you've seen these things before?
connie_maheswaran: (Oh boy...)

[personal profile] connie_maheswaran 2015-03-25 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. Crystal gems live in my world, and they fight monsters and corrupted gems.

And since WE have gems now when we shouldn't, I think we're going to have to do that now.
lunarrover: (08. Who let the dogs out?)

Two truths and a lie!

[personal profile] lunarrover 2015-03-25 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
[What a strange place for two members of the Guardians of the Galaxy to meet for the first time. Granted, Cosmo has always been a reserve/support member, and hasn't had much time to deal with Peter's latest edition of the group, but still: Of all the places to meet, this probably wouldn't have been one of his first guesses.

Cosmo will play fair and not try to read her mind for the answer.
]

<I do not know much about Asgard or Heven, Comrade Angela, but it seems to me that the last one is being the lie.>

[He is - or was - one of the galaxy's most powerful telepaths. This place may have nerfed his powers a bit, but he's still fairly certain he could make her have a stroke before she was able to touch him.]
lunarrover: (01. When the party was nice)

[personal profile] lunarrover 2015-03-25 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
<I am not knowing these names. They are your friends, yes?>

[The voice Connie hears doesn't seem to come from anywhere, at first. More like... from within her own head.

In a few seconds, however, she'll hear the tell-tale sound of paws and claws tapping on the stone floor of the temple, before an aging dog makes his entrance into the temple's Heart. Also: The dog is wearing a 1950's era spacesuit, which might seem a little out-of place.

He seems friendly enough, though!

[Talking Dog: Meet Psychic Dog.]

<Sure thing, Comrade. And who should I tell them is looking for them?>

[Cosmo doesn't even bat an eye at the talking canine before him. He's seen enough weird stuff in space that another talking dog doesn't even register as something strange to him.

Plus, y'know. He's a dog too.
]
connie_maheswaran: (Best oh shit face)

[personal profile] connie_maheswaran 2015-03-25 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm?

[Was that coming into her head? She'd never seen a dog quite like this. It was dressed like something straight out of an older science fiction book, or one of those old movies. How was it speaking to her? Better try to talk back though.]

Was that you, just now?
