Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.

Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

How this works:

☆ This is a test drive for cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.

☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.

☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.

☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.

☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.


YOUR OPTIONS:

☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!

☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.

☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.

☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.

You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.

[For some people, this would come as a shock, naturally because they never were gems before. While this is true for Connie, this wasn't merely a look of shock, but one of utter denial, shaking her head at the implausibility of it all-but there it was. She was somehow, even without asking, in a gem sanctum and, more astonishing, had a GEM OF HER OWN.

Connie. The girl who watched the gems fight in Beach City, who loved Steven's household and tagged along and helped Steven. Somehow, THIS happened. She was still shaking her head].

No, this is wrong. It has to be. Steven? STEVEN! Pearl? Amethyst? Garnet?

Where are you?!

Whoa, you're really freaking out....

[takes a few steps back to give her more space, hands up in a placating gesture]

You're missing some people?

[Connie looked over at the boy in the...strange hat. Wait, did he have one too?]

Where are we? This looks like a gem sanctum I think! How did you get in here? How did I get in here?

Yes! Have you heard of Steven Universe?

[Does he? That's a matter that he likes to keep under his hat.

GET IT? GET IT? Cuz it's under hi--yeah, okay. Nevermind. I am so sorry, Connie.]

Uhm, we're in another world and we kinda got transported here by weird magic holes and we have not found a way back yet. Please don't freak out.

So that Steven guy you're talking about is probably back home where you left him?

[Haha PUNS. You are so lucky her best friend is the master of those].

I think this is one of those moments where freaking out is a perfectly legitimate reaction, especially to this!

[She gestured to the gem on her right shoulder] Why do I have a gem?! I'm not a gem! I'm not even half of one, I'm a regular human! What was IN those holes?

Is he? I figured this might be where he'd be, since this is his sort of thing.

...you know about the rocks already? That's. Weird.

That's really weird. Uh.

All I really know is that they give you cool super powers and they won't come out. We tried, there was bleeding.

Well yes. Where I'm from, everyone in Beach City know about the Crystal gems.

I know about the powers. Of course they won't come out, they're a PART of you. Ugh, I can't imagine trying to do that, it would hurt. If you even started to crack the gem, it would destabilize your whole...

Wait, what do you mean "we?"

<I am not knowing these names. They are your friends, yes?>

[The voice Connie hears doesn't seem to come from anywhere, at first. More like... from within her own head.

In a few seconds, however, she'll hear the tell-tale sound of paws and claws tapping on the stone floor of the temple, before an aging dog makes his entrance into the temple's Heart. Also: The dog is wearing a 1950's era spacesuit, which might seem a little out-of place.

He seems friendly enough, though!]

Hmm?

[Was that coming into her head? She'd never seen a dog quite like this. It was dressed like something straight out of an older science fiction book, or one of those old movies. How was it speaking to her? Better try to talk back though.]

Was that you, just now?

[lunarrover]

[The dog looks directly into Connie's face and nods. There's a look of intelligence in his eyes, moreso than you might see in your average, every-day canine companions.]

<I am Cosmo, Chief Security Officer of Knowhere. You are little earth girl, da?>

[Congratulations, Connie, you've met your first telepathic dog. His eyes glow ever-so-slightly as he "speaks" at her.]

<Do you understand what is going on here yet?>

[He WAS speaking into her mind and...sounding Russian, sure, but how was he able to do this at all? What was with the weird get up? Was he really a Security officer somewhere?]

Yes, I am from Earth. I do know what is going on here, sort of, but...do you know where we are?

[Those are some GOOD QUESTIONS, Connie. Cosmo himself isn't really sure how he got these cool telepathic powers, for the record, so some of those question are going to have to go unanswered.]

<Ah, good! You are smart girl, Cosmo likes you.> [Cosmo likes most people, to be honest. He's a very friendly dog, unless you do something to provoke him.] <What is your name, Smart Girl?>

[When she asks where they are, he gives a long pause. He turns to look a the temple entrance, that he had just entered from, and his nose twitches as he tests the smell of the air.]

<Not sure. Earth, possibly. Is hard to say, it has been a long time since I have set paw on Earth.>

[He's really only guessing by the sheer number of Terrans he's seen here. This place doesn't smell like Vladivostok at all, from what he remembers of the place. Then again, as he said, it's been many years since the last time he's been to Earth.]

[Connie managed a smile. She couldn't look at Cosmo and NOT think of Dogcoptor, the amazing robotic dog that helped mankind fight against its enemies...though of course that hardly applied to an actual dog that could telepathically speak to you!]

Hi Cosmo, I'm Connie, Connie Maheswaran. I just arrived here, but based on where I live, I've sort of figured out what might be happening. Tell me, did you also get a gem in you?

[Having a dog that could speak to the mind was astounding to begin with, but with a gem...well, there was no telling what he could do!]

[Wait, her name? Huh? But she's not even in princess mode! Just 13-year-old girl mode.]

Amethyst?

[... pause.]

... Probably not me, huh?

[Another person named Amethyst?! Connie was startled, then came to her sense].

Well no, sorry. I was looking for the Crystal Gem named that. So that's your name too?

[amymethyst]

Well I mean. My name's Amy, but uh. As of like a week or so ago I'm the princess of the Amethyst Kingdom in Gemworld. But also Amy.

[Explaining this is not going well oh god. She sighs and smiles.]

It's weird.

A princess? And there's a gem world there!?

[Ok, this was new. Granted, she was sure the gem world wasn't quite the same as the one in her world, this was still pretty daunting information].

It sounds pretty epic, actually, right out of a book! What's your gem world like?

[She laughs quietly for a second.]

Out of a video game, actually. That's how Gemworld contacted me. It's different from here, though - there's just twelve magic gemstones that each belong to the rulers of the different kingdoms. I was sent away to Earth when I was a baby, I guess. It just happened a week or so ago, so if I seem calm about being pulled here uh. That's why!

[She looks down at the amethyst on her upper chest] This is where the amulet holding the amethyst used to be, actually. At least that big gem put it in the right-

[Annnd suddenly, as Amy touches it, there's a bright purple flash of light! Not blinding, but it definitely covers Amy because TRANSFORMATION SEQUENCE TIME!]

[And suddenly Amy has long red hair and is in a fancy purple dress!]

[She blinks a few times, looking down at herself.]

And this is how I look when I'm in Gemworld! But uh. Here, instead. I did not know I could do that.

[Connie's eyes grew wide. Ok, this was new, this was something out of a proto eighties flick that was trying to get kids interested in the idea of video games and monsters and fighting. She would actually think it was pretty cool if, well, she didn't know that the Gems here were completely different].

That's quite a story, but I don't think anyone who saw you just do that could call you a liar. WOW. That is amazing, and you have such a pretty dress! Still, this place is going to be different from your world. I don't know if we're on Earth, but we're definitely dealing with the type of Gem magic I'm used to.

[At Connie's panicked cries, someone emerges who is sadly not any of the Crystal Gems she named, but some random Japanese girl in a green jacket instead. She still has one shoe and sock off, revealing the chunk of moss agate embedded in her foot.]

Whoa, easy there! A-Are you okay?

In a funny set of coincidence...

[Connie started at the voice, turning around].

I'm definitely NOT fi-oh. [She stopped when she saw the girl's foot]. Wait. We have the same gem?! I didn't know that could happen!

Huh? We do? [Chie stops, picking up her foot slightly and glancing down at it.] Is that a big deal? I don't even know what my gem is. Something green, I guess.

I don't...know yet if it is. I've never seen two gems with the same stone. I mean, yours is a darker green, and mine's more of a circle shape. Can you use any of your powers yet?

Powers? If I've got 'em, I haven't figured out how to use them. It isn't like-- [She stops herself, half because she isn't sure she wants to finish that sentence, half because she just realized something.] Wait, wait. If we all got pulled here from somewhere else, how do you know so much about these gems already?
