TEST DRIVE
Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.
How this works:
☆ This is a test drive for
cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.
☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.
☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.
☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.
☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.
YOUR OPTIONS:
☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!
☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.
☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.
☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.
You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

[The voice Connie hears doesn't seem to come from anywhere, at first. More like... from within her own head.
In a few seconds, however, she'll hear the tell-tale sound of paws and claws tapping on the stone floor of the temple, before an aging dog makes his entrance into the temple's Heart. Also: The dog is wearing a 1950's era spacesuit, which might seem a little out-of place.
He seems friendly enough, though!]

[Was that coming into her head? She'd never seen a dog quite like this. It was dressed like something straight out of an older science fiction book, or one of those old movies. How was it speaking to her? Better try to talk back though.]
Was that you, just now?

<I am Cosmo, Chief Security Officer of Knowhere. You are little earth girl, da?>
[Congratulations, Connie, you've met your first telepathic dog. His eyes glow ever-so-slightly as he "speaks" at her.]
<Do you understand what is going on here yet?>
no subject
Yes, I am from Earth. I do know what is going on here, sort of, but...do you know where we are?
no subject
<Ah, good! You are smart girl, Cosmo likes you.> [Cosmo likes most people, to be honest. He's a very friendly dog, unless you do something to provoke him.] <What is your name, Smart Girl?>
[When she asks where they are, he gives a long pause. He turns to look a the temple entrance, that he had just entered from, and his nose twitches as he tests the smell of the air.]
<Not sure. Earth, possibly. Is hard to say, it has been a long time since I have set paw on Earth.>
[He's really only guessing by the sheer number of Terrans he's seen here. This place doesn't smell like Vladivostok at all, from what he remembers of the place. Then again, as he said, it's been many years since the last time he's been to Earth.]

Hi Cosmo, I'm Connie, Connie Maheswaran. I just arrived here, but based on where I live, I've sort of figured out what might be happening. Tell me, did you also get a gem in you?
[Having a dog that could speak to the mind was astounding to begin with, but with a gem...well, there was no telling what he could do!]
no subject
It's worth mentioning, however, that Cosmo can definitely tell that she's thinking about dogcoptor. That's what happens when you let a telepath into your head, Connie. Fortunately, he isn't offended by the comparison.]
<It is good to meet you, Connie.> [He lets out a friendly-sounding bark, and shows his teeth. His upper left canine is glowing slightly, and has been replaced with a tooth-shaped piece of Vesuvianite.]
<Da, I have been given a gem as well. Is quite troublesome - it interferes with my powers, somehow.>
no subject
It's good to meet you too, Cosmo. I-Oh, right in your tooth?
[She examines the gem a moment, shaking her head].
It should give you other powers in time. Tell me, what could you do WITHOUT the gem?
no subject
For a moment, she sees his space station through his eyes, as he subdues alien criminals with his mind, levitates them into holding cells using telekinesis. He senses the presence of the thousands of people in his care, of every species imaginable. When attacked, he could create a mental barrier, powerful enough to stop almost anything that might come his way. His mental touch is delicate enough to help a crying child up off the ground, and powerful enough to subdue even the largest of troublemakers with relative ease.
A common theme among these memories is that none of them occur on earth, and relatively few of them involve any humanoids at all.]
<Cosmo could do a great many things.>
[He was one of the most powerful psychics in his universe, and he knew it. Here, though? He's a lot more limited. It's as if the giant crystal heart has intentionally nerfed his powers for some reason.]
<But that is something to worry about some other time, da? You said you were looking for friends?>
no subject
Wow, that is...I don't think I have the words! But they brought you here and blocked your powers? Maybe you'll be expected to get them back in time. But yes, I'm looking for Steven Universe and the Crystal Gems: Amethyst, Pearl and Garnet.
no subject
<Alright, Connie, come with Cosmo and we will see about finding your Crystal Gem friends.> [Connie may feel a small tingling in the back of her mind, as he searches her memories for what they actually look like. Don't worry, though, he won't pry into her more private thoughts.] <If you see any of my friends, let Cosmo know. They are called the Guardians of the Galaxy, it is being very important that Cosmo speaks with them, if they are here.>
[Images and names flash through Connie's mind once more, of the surviving members of the Guardians of the Galaxy. There are about eight of them left after their latest debacle: Mantis, Moondragon, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Jack Flag, Bug, and Major Victory. They'd all gone their separate ways after Peter's death, but their help would be invaluable if he could get in contact with just one of them.]
no subject
Thank you. I'll do my best to see if I can find your friends. Thank you for helping me find mine.
[His friends all looked to be very distinct, so if they were around, Connie didn't doubt that she'd be able to find them.]
