TEST DRIVE
Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.
How this works:
☆ This is a test drive for
cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.
☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.
☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.
☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.
☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.
YOUR OPTIONS:
☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!
☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.
☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.
☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.
You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.
Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

Marty McFly | Back to the Future | Moonstone
[What.
What the hell is going on. Why did he think it was a good idea to walk into that hole and why is there this giant weird gem in front of him? It's one thing if he somehow ended up time traveling but he's pretty sure at no point in time were there giant floating gems.
Okay okay, he can deal with this, he just needs to calm down. Marty rubs his arm awkwardly before realizing that there was something hard where his heart should be. After patting his chest to make sure it wasn't just some weird mind trick, he nervously checks under his shirt to see what was going on with him. Sure enough, right over his heart there was what appeared to be a white rock.]
What the hell?!
[Marty stumbles back in shock and ends up falling over. Someone might need to go stop him before he accidentally hurts himself somehow.]
2. Mission
[Well this whole situation is weird, and Marty's not quite sure how he feels about it. However, the power he got was one of the cooler things about this place and he would be lying if he said he didn't want more of them. So even if it was an, admittedly kind of stupid test, he was willing to do it.
So he approaches the first random person he sees to try it out.]
Hey, mind if I ask you some questions?
no subject
Are you all right?
[Yes, that is a blue and green gem bulging from the geezer's forehead. And it's also Doc, who doesn't quite see the familiar face yet.]
no subject
Doc!
[He can't manage to say anything else. This whole situation was weird for him.]
no subject
[Okay, he's just going to hurry on over and offer his hand, looking quite relieved to see him.]
I wondered if lightning had struck again...but this displacement feels entirely different. Did you emerge through a hole?
no subject
[Yes, he did go through a hole. Marty accepts the hand as he notices the rocks on Doc's forehead.]
Ah, do you know that you have rocks on your head, Doc?
no subject
How on earth did that get there?
[Once he's sure Marty's okay, he moves to stand in front of the crystal, the nearest reflective surface. Sure enough, what's embedded there is a bright crystal.]
I can assure you it's not a fashion trend from any future I've seen. I certainly didn't have it a minute ago. Did anything unusual happen to you?
[His voice is pitching up in that way it sometimes does when he's starting to worry. He turns back around---well, Marty doesn't look any different.]
no subject
[Awkwardly, Marty pulls down the collar of his shirt so that the triangular gemstone on his chest is showing.]
What the hell happened to us, anyway?
no subject
...and when he does, his eyes widen. He's silent as waves of unfamiliar information flood into him, and when he finally turns back to Marty he looks slightly shaken.]
Come here and touch the crystal, Marty. It'll tell you.
no subject
Are you sure, Doc?
[No offence, but when you touch a mysterious crystal and immediately after instruct your friend to do the same, it kind of sounds like you've been brainwashed by said crystal.]
no subject
It told me what happened to us. Apparently, this is a world where crystal gems have great power, but the gems need the help of outsiders.
To accomplish this, we have been transformed into manifestations crystal gems---as I understand it we're not entirely human anymore, despite appearances.
[Yeah, probably sounds nuts, right? He swears though.]
no subject
Brainwashing is still a possibility though.]
So we've been turned into gems because they want us to fight something?
[That's... vague.]
no subject
[He rubs his forehead-gem. What a headache...]
And, of course, nothing about a return to Hill Valley.
no subject
[Marty sighed, becoming painfully aware of the gem on him.]
Are you sure this isn't just some crazy dream? I mean people just don't turn into rocks.
no subject
[He looks over at Marty. No, that lump in his shirt is still in the same place.]
...of course, it might be the only way.
no subject
[After all they've gotten shocked before, it's not like they'll die if they do it in this "dream world".]
no subject
[As he's imagining ways to create a shock, he suddenly yelps. There sure was shock jumping between his hands, slightly singing then.]
no subject
How the hell did you do that?!
no subject
[He intentionally tries this time, concentrating his mental energy up there and picturing it jumping out...and it takes an embarrassingly long time, but another bolt dances between his hands.]
Great Scott. I'm a generator.
no subject
So these rocks give us powers then?
[He might have already forgotten that they technically are the rocks now. It just sounds really weird that way, okay?]
no subject
[He sighs, rubs his fingertips, then starts rummaging in his pockets for something]
Then I'm convinced this is reality. But I'm definitely not going out with a target on my head.
[Is it normal for this world? He doesn't know. But his reflection still weirds him out, so he is tying a bandana around his forehead to hide that thing.]
no subject
[Marty soon starts to see if any sparks shoot out of his gemstone. It goes about as well as you'd expect.]
So how do you know that going out with that gem is a target, anyway?
no subject
[He sighs.]
Perhaps everyone out there has an easily visible gem, but...I look quite alien. And that's not likely to be a good thing when establishing contact.]
no subject
Well he didn't die or anything at least.]
Right. There has to be other people though, right? Why would this.. gem [Gestures towards the floating gem.] want just us?
no subject
no subject
[That would just be boring, honestly.]
