TEST DRIVE

Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.

Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

How this works:

☆ This is a test drive for cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.

☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.

☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.

☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.

☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.


YOUR OPTIONS:

☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!

☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.

☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.

☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.

You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.

Yeah, but even with friends and nice folk, it would startle you if they were there when you didn't expect them, right?

A little! But they can't be doing anything too bad...

Yeah. But Pearl's a little high strung, so even though she knows me and you're nice folk, she'd still freak out a little right away.

[Greg looks at the door to the chamber they're in, frowning a little.] Man, I dunno if I'm gonna be able to open that. I never used to be able to before. Maybe we will have to wait for the Gems to find us here.

[ohmygah]

Oh, I getcha! That explains Miss Kurosawa gets real upset when Mr Kimura tries to join us during girl's swimming day. [Yes, that's definitely why.]

How long do ya think it'll take for them to find us?

I dunno. There's a bunch of bubbles up there, so maybe next time they come in with a new bubble? They do that pretty often. Like once a day or so.

[Still that seems like a pretty long time to wait.]

Huh. I wonder what would happen if I knocked on it. Maybe Steven's in his room and he'll hear it?

[Does that even work with magic doors that can go anywhere?]

Can't hurt to try. Unless its like an electric fence or something. Then it'd probably hurt a lot.

Naw, it's not really.

[So Greg goes over to the door... and it opens for him? Okay, that is weird. And... this place it's opened up to doesn't really look like Steven's room either.]

Huh. I don't think we're at the temple. At least, not the temple I know.

[ohmygah]

Why do rocks need so many temples? Is it so the mom rocks and the dad rocks can worship the God rocks?

[Important questions.]

... huh. I never asked.

[Maybe he should have.]

[ohmygah]

[Now this has really got her thinking. She moves over to the wall and rubs it a little.]

If the temples are made of rocks, do the alien rocks feel bad making it outta fellow rocks?

You know, I didn't ask them that either. I dunno if it's the same, though. Gems are kind of different than normal rocks. They can think and they have magic and stuff. And they've got bodies that they make so they can walk around.

[ohmygah]

Huh? [That explains a lot. In her mind, she had imagined little rocks rolling around, shoving things together to make temples, falling on the head of intruders... Bodies were probably more useful.]

So they're rock people?

Yeah! Their real bodies are the rocks, but they sort of project human-shaped bodies from those rocks.

[ohmygah]

Ohhhhhh, okay.

[She pauses again to consider.]

So, does that mean it looks like they got rocks sticking outta their body?

[cometkin]

Yeah! Each of them has a rock somewhere sticking out of them. Like Pearl, who I mentioned before, she's got hers on her forehead. And Steven has his as his bellybutton!

[ohmygah]

So is that not some kinda piercing or something?

[She chooses to take this moment to point at the weird shape under his shirt in the stomach area.]

Huh? [Greg looks down, sees a lump on his lower chest that wasn't really there before.] What the--? [He pulls the collar of his wifebeater back so he can see it and it's--]

A gem? But I'm not a Gem--?

[It's pink and smooth like Pearl's and kind of shaped like a fat oval and oh my gosh, it really is a gem. Shoot.]

[ohmygah]

[Mr Universe seemed Alarmed.

That probably wasn't great.]

Does it feel weird? Is it stuck? Are you gonna be okay, Mr. Universe?!

[cometkin]

[Greg wants to freak out. He wants to freak out so badly. But there is a little Japanese girl here--oh fine, a teenage Japanese girl, but not a very big one--and he can see how dismayed she already looks. He doesn't need to freak her the heck out too.

Deep breaths, Greg. Deep breaths.]

Um. I think so? But it shouldn't be there! I'm a human!

[ohmygah]

Maybe it got stuck there when we arrived here? Like, a bubble popped and the bubble stuff was all sticky so it stuck there?

[MAYBE THAT MAKES SENSE SHE'S NOT SURE.]

But it's under my shirt! Wouldn't it have stuck to the outside of my shirt?

[And-- and it feels like it's part of him? Oh man oh man oh man.]

[ohmygah]

Oh. Erm. Uhhhhhh.

Maybe we need ta pull it out!

I dunno if that's such a good idea, Ayumu...

[IT FEELS LIKE IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE THERE. HE DOESN'T WANT IT, BUT IT FEELS LIKE IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE THERE ANYWAY. THIS IS SO WEIRD.]

But if its stuck there, maybe its shedding crystals in yer stomach!

[Definitely taking a closer look at it and tapping it a little to test it out.]

If it were shedding anything, it would be cracked! It's not cracked!
