TEST DRIVE - Part 3

Maybe you've been here for a while, or maybe you just got here. Either way, you're all in the same situation - you've been turned into a magical gemstone and stranded in a foreign world! And all you've been left with is the clothes on your back, stripped of all powers except one.

Clearly, you’ll just have to make the best of it.

How this works:

☆ This is a test drive for cosmographia, which means you should get a little familiar with the setting and premise.

☆ Otherwise, this is just meant to help you feel out how you may play and serves mainly as a chill interest gathering and get together kind of post! No app necessary, and you don't need to play in this post to apply - or vice versa.

☆ Everybody is welcome! There are no character limitations; pg au oc canon pigeon whatever. Just toss up a topcomment and/or jump any threads that pique your interest.

☆ This post will remain open until it begins to approach 5000 comments! Then a new test-drive post will be made.

☆ Rules-wise: Be cool to yourself and others, and keep in mind the other game rules too.

☆ If you do apply to the game and are accepted, and you want to keep the CR, you may so long as what you did isn't setting breaking and everyone involved agrees.


YOUR OPTIONS:

☆ You find yourself in the Heart of a ruined temple. There is a large glowing gem that thrums with some kind of rhythm, and jewels scattered all over the room, kept in strange bubbles. At the very least, touching the large gem will give you a standard info-dump, but some of you might be a little cautious about touching weird luminescent gems. Good thing that there are other people there too!

☆ Or perhaps you already know everything there is to know, and are there in the Heart of the Ruined Temple to greet new arrivals. Or perhaps you simply had business there already, like storing away a corrupted gem from a monster, when someone new seemingly dropped in from no where.

☆ It's Farmer's Market day in the plaza of Waverly Bay! Perhaps you're there perusing the goods and strike up conversation, or accidentally bump into someone and get to know them that way. It's a fairly standard day.

☆ There's an event! You don't really know what else to call them - missions, perhaps? But something in the temple was triggered, and the glowy Heart gem has something new to "tell" you: If you want a new power, you should try telling other people two truths and a lie. Those who you interact with must try and divine the lie from your statements.

You have no idea how something this simple will get you a power, but hey.

Oh, no kidding, you're an alien? Sweet! But why do you look human aside from, you know, having the color of Barney the dinosaur?

[In a flash of light she shifts her head so she has one big eye and a horn growing out of the top of her head. Then she strikes a pose.]

I think I got the swag for it~

I dunno, I just...look how I look. How many aliens have you met?

Whoa, no way! That was frikin' amazing!

[You are literally blowing her mind]!

Other than a few illegal ones and the ones no one seems to believe me about? Not many.

[Her head changes back and she grins]

Just a little taste of my powah! Go ahead name an animal I'll hook ya up.

Hey, if I have to follow the law and not burn down a few buildings, they should too. That's just fair.

[Louise thinks a minute].

Do a unicorn! Not because I like the stupid things: I just wanna see one!

Oh is that all?

[In another flash of light her body leans forward and she transforms into a familiar unicorn from in town]

Check it ouuuut~ She comes with and without wings.

[More light as she makes wings appear and flaps them a few times]

Oh man, this is so cool! That's even way better looking than the stupid ponies my sister loves!

Wait, with wings?! No way!

Is this a power all of us get?? Man, I could be a dragon! YES!

Finally, something useful with this stuff!

[She shifts back grinning smugly]

It's a power most of us get eventually. Ya gotta hang around long enough and fight enough gem monsters to earn it I think. And there's no way to make sure you get that power exactly, you might get something different.

[To give another example she reaches into her glowing chest gem and draws out a long thorny looking whip cracking it theatrically in the air.]

Aw, what? That sounds like a video game! Who has time for that? And its unpredictable too? It might as well be real life!

Ok, Amethyst. Real dirt, you and me. How do you get to run this place? I can deal with all of the jewel-anime-transformation girl crap as well as the next, but what are the perks?

[Well she likes how direct this kid is]

No one really runs the place except that jerk.

[She points to the crystal heart gem]

It keeps us from leaving town and sometimes tells us what to do if it wants something. And if we do it we get more powers.

As for perks...

[She looks thoughtful]

Well you get your own room that can look like whatever you imagine...more or less. And it's harder for you to die now that you're not a normal human...no school I guess? I dunno I've never been to school but kids on TV seem to hate it.

You're...kidding right? You listen to something that doesn't even talk BACK to you to tell you anything, and you figure it out by yourself?

Yup. Definitely like real life.

Oh, what?! You seriously can't even leave this stupid town? How has no one, you know, not exploded everything, blown up the borders, DEMANDED an answer? Does this place and powers make people forget?!

[Yeah, Louise is not going to stand for this].

OK, well that's a relief. I was not about to be happy about being one of those Alan Moore deals. The last thing I need is that gritty realism, its real enough!

Oh, school. Yeah, right. I was really concerned about missing classes when I have SUPER POWERS.

[She shrugs]

Hey dude, you don't wanna listen to the big rock you don't have to. I'm just tellin' ya how it is.

You can leave town whenever ya want but something makes everyone come back. Most people don't get more then a day or two out of town before they walk back, and there's nothin' out there for miles. Once you get going you just feel like you have to come back.

Why would I do that? It doesn't do anything but give you missions, right? It's not my mom, and I BARELY listen to her.

And nobody has a problem with that? I'm getting some serious brain washing vibes here.

Wait, can that happen to me? Is this thing in MY HEAD?! IS IT?!

Because if you get a mission and do it, then you get more powers, duh.

Oh no, most of us have a problem with it. We just don't know what to do about it.

I don't think it's in your head...I think it's in your gem.

[She taps her own gem]

Your body is just a creation of your gem now. So your brain and stuff is actually in your gem too.

Ugh, what? F-FINE, I guess I can do some of these missions. What do we have to do, go to the store, brickwork?

That's even worse! No one even asks for this gem, and it programs a fail safe? That is messed up!

Wait, what? I don't follow. How is your brain and your body functions in a gem? I barely get the way my body works and it still makes no sense.

Uh...to tell you the truth the only missions I've had so far is "Defeat this really strong monster." And the second time I didn't even defeat it someone else did.

OK so, I'm not the best person to explain it but basically, you know about souls right? Humans believe in souls where I come from.

Basically your soul is in your gem. And your body is just something the gem creates.

So if you get hurt too badly, your body goes POOF and you retreat inside your gem to heal.

As long as you don't crack or smash your gem you'll just keep coming back.

That's a mission! I'd do that for fun! Ha! Ok, so maybe it won't be super bad here, so long as we get the proper establishments going.

[Yeah, Louise is an opportunist].

What? Ok, that's weird and really screwed up, yet cool at the same time. I might need to process that.

Nah, nevermind, its cool! I don't care about the scientific and moral implications!

Establishments huh? Like what?

[ Amethyst is not one to object to such behavior. She bursts out loud with laughter at that last part]

Well then you should fit in just fine around here kid.

Oh, you know, the usual stuff. Gambling, a decent black market no one knows about, maybe some undercover fights! This place is probably so nice it hasn't got any of that stuff yet. Could probably make a real profit here with the right circumstances!

[Oh yeah. No parents, people who needed excitement. She could definitely do something with THIS].

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Just play off the little kid thing and I should be fine, right?

[More laughter]

Sheesh you're advanced! Well we already got fighting. It happens once a month at the town storage warehouse. A bunch of us get together and wrestle for fun. The rest of it would probably work though.

[She didn't know how one exactly set up those enterprises but she was keen to find out what it was like to play]

For fun huh? Hmm. Ok, so fighting, lots of intense gem battles and stuff, people lining up to see it? I can work with this. Just need to figure out an angle...

[Louise would get rich yet: it was just a matter of figure out how to use what they were already giving for free and turn a profit].

Hey, whose the strongest around here anyway?

[ She has to consider this because as much fun as boasting is, there are a lot of gems]

[She shrugs and shifts her form once more into THE PURPLE PUMA before lifting Louise up and throwing her into the air, so high she almost touches the stalactites on the ceiling before falling back down to be caught]
