HOW'S THE GAME?

Welcome to Cosmographia's first "How's the Game"! This is essentially an open forum for discussion about where to take the game from here and anything that might need changing. A lot has happened in the past week and going forward we feel it's more important than ever to have a discussion like this.

This is not a place for criticism of specific players or characters. This is purely about the game itself. Please save player specific criticisms for the upcoming How's My Driving. Any disregard for this or out of hand conduct will be frozen or deleted.

We are inviting not just all current players (old and new) to participate in this discussion but also past players that have left and new potential players considering the game; we encourage everyone to pitch in their two cents. That being said, since this is the game's first HTG we are currently going to do it without anon or sock journals (for future HTG this may change).

Like said this is a completely open forum. We have a list of topics we want to discuss (listed below), but after all those have gone up players are completely free to start their own threads with anything not covered by the other sections.

Current sections (please wait until all these are up and linked to post your own they're all up now!):

The Staff
Applications
Setting Suggestions
The World Outside Waverly Bay/Potential World Plot
Event Schedule/Power Distribution
Player Plot Approval
Power Limitations/Guidelines

I think at some point summon weapons were also made a freebie, because a lot of people assumed they were a freebie and so the mods solved it the easy way and granted it to everyone.

It says something that I'm not 100% sure on that either way.

That one I had no idea about! If it is a freebie, then hey, one more reason a clear list would be helpful.

Nah they were never a freebie as far as I know, there's a section on the FAQ about that.

But yeah you're right, it really says something about that stuff.

Really? I remember it was a "default grant unless you already got it" after one event. Was that just to level the playing field a bit?

Didn't seem like people paid much attention to the default grants anyhow.

Nah what that was was events came with a standard power everyone could get. You had a choice between the event's power or your own power idea. I believe all the past event powers were empathy, treasure sense, weapons and shapeshifting, with fusion being unlocked after the game's very first event for all gems.

The problem is most of the event powers people either already had or didn't want. They weren't really paid attention to (to the point that I actually don't even see a reason to include them anymore) Events also tended to have schedule issues so I can completely understand how there was mix ups there.

Yeah, like... On one hand, I see the appeal of having a 'Suggested Power' tied thematically into the nature of the Event. Especially for people who might be having trouble coming up with what sort of powers they could give their character.

But on the other hand, it might be causing too much confusion...?

Oh! I think I get it! That was the suggested/default grant for beating the Queen of the Moles!

So no, that wasn't a 'Everyone from this point on will automatically be able to access their Gem Weapon from the get-go' grant like Fusion. That was just a 'Default/Suggested Power for if you can't come up with anything' power. Unlocking Fusion at the end of the first event was just a special case to keep everyone from immediately fusing with each other right when the game first started up. I can see where it'd be confusing, though!
